At GUBI, we’re on a continual quest. A journey. Fuelled by our passion to discover overlooked icons from the past and future icons in the making, we’ve made a distinctive name for ourselves in the international design arena as a dynamic design force to be reckoned with.

We see ourselves as treasure hunters, where curiosity, courage and intuition are key components for our success. Design is all about discovering gems and following your instincts. It involves travelling, searching and finding long-lost remnants from the past as well as contemporary, cutting-edge designs from new artists on the horizon.

The result is an eclectic, intercontinental collection that blurs the lines between the past and the future. An extensive assortment of extremely aesthetic, thought-provoking designs characterised by simple, arresting shapes, original materials and innovative techniques which defy time and space. Imbued with a beauty that resonates with design aficionados, architects and designers all around the world.

At GUBI, we’re very proud to have been part of yet another prestigious gastronomic project. This time it was the venture from the food entrepreneur and co-founder of Noma, Claus Meyer and his partner, world famous jazz musician, Niels Lan Doky. Together with the Danish-Italian design duo, GamFratesi, they set out on a journey to transform a former custom house in Copenhagen into a “new cultural and gastronomic landmark” with three world-class restaurants and a jazz club.

13

The space is fitted throughout with Beetle chairs and Beetle bar stools along with other beautiful GUBI designs – the project set new standards for the Copenhagen dining scene. After the intense process, the space was re-born as “The Standard” – a name that pays tribute to the history of the building and also signifies the vision and ambition of it’s owners. Housed in an iconic and historical building that dates back to 1937, The Standard is located in central

Copenhagen. Right next to Nyhavn, straight across from Noma and overlooking the Royal Opera and Christianshavn. The interior of The Standard has been completely transformed and stands completed as a mix of modern, understated Nordic with subtle details and international touches that all together provides a unique ambience.

GUBI & AMASS MASCULINE APPEAR ANCE IN A PR ESTIGIOUS LANDM AR K

Copenhagen

The former Noma Head Chef and US native Matthew Orlando, opened the restaurant Amass with the dream to create a raw open space that would feel alive and have a constant flow whether it’s in the dining room or the kitchen. For GUBI, the design process of Amass has been an exciting challenge. Our mission has been to ensure that Orlando’s vision of informality and movement came through. To secure that, the designs should compliment the space and allow for full focus on whatever is put on the plate.

27

The interior of Amass is an eclectic mix of sleek lines, exclusive materials, classic design and brand new design icons all carefully chosen to reflect the building’s history, strong lines and rough edges. The perfect choice for seating and the main design icon was the Masculo chair designed by GamFratesi. The Masculo chair with its masculine appearance and slim base creates the ultimate comfort for diners but also remains delicate and exclusive in the open space. And just like the rest of the space, contrasts are also what defines the work of GamFratesi. To compliment the Masculo chairs, with a small nod to Japan, is the sculptural Aoyama table while the space is carefully lit up by mega-editions of the ever

classic Bestlite pendant and Greta M. Grossman Cobra wall lamps. Most diners are seated at Gubi tables in smoked oak and this also makes out the large communal dining table for which 10 diners each night will share their meal with other guests who’s equally open to make new acquaintances. Housed in the old tool depot of the former Burmeister & Wain shipyards, at Copenhagen’s Refshaleøen district, the restaurant features an impressive 736 square meters of loft space and retains the industrial elements from the original structure – where all interior is provided by GUBI.
