Foreword by The Rt Hon Anne Milton MP Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills & Nick Juba, Chairman of Coast2Capital Skills Board

As part of my job it is a huge privilege to meet so many apprentices of all ages and backgrounds. The one thing they have in common is that they all agree that doing an apprenticeship is the best thing they have ever done. I am filled with pride when I see just how much those apprentices have achieved, knowing that they have had a brilliant start to their working life, with some really fantastic employers giving them first class training. I am thrilled that so many in Brighton and Hove are now venturing onto the next exciting step of their career, with skills, qualifications, experience and an abundance of ambition. Congratulations to everyone! Graduation ceremonies for apprentices are a fantastic way and a fitting celebration of all you have achieved. You are the success that will boost this country’s economic growth.

Your experiences, are not only helping you all achieve your individual goals – but shouting out to employers and your peers that you have skills, behaviours and knowledge to do whatever you want. Apprenticeships change lives and employers make that happen. I have no doubt that everyone today will walk away from the celebrations uplifted by the amazing example that has been shown in Brighton and Hove tonight. My thanks go to everyone who has made this happen. Everyone here deserves the recognition and the celebration. Thank you all for being apprenticeship champions.

On behalf of the Coast 2 Capital Skills Board and Greater Brighton Metropolitan College I offer my congratulations to all those apprentices and trainees attending this evening’s ceremony. I hope you are very proud of what you have already achieved. Apprenticeships provide a compelling route into work and so Coast to Capital is taking a greater role in promoting work-based learning, raising the aspirations of school leavers and encouraging a change of attitude to skills developments among employers, workers, and parents. I wish you every success in your job and your career, and I hope that you will share your journey and offer your support to apprentices and trainees who follow in your footsteps.

You are stars! The Rt Hon Anne Milton MP Minister of State for Apprenticeships & Skills

Nick Juba Chairman Coast 2 Capital Skills Board Chief Executive Officer, Greater Brighton Metropolitan College
