PREPARE FOR ‘VIRTUAL INSANITY’

Jamiroquai – the famed funk and acid jazz band from London – are coming to Bahrain.

Get ready for an incredible night of fantastic funk and soul extravagance performed by the legendary Jamiroquai. The event is set to take place on August 18 at Exhibition World Bahrain. Founded in 1992 by frontman Jay Kay (aka the Buffalo Man, aka The Cat in the Hat), Jamiroquai were a prominent component of the London-based funk/jazz movement of the 1990s.

The band’s full-length debut, Emergency on Planet Earth, was released in 1993 and quickly became a major hit in their native, England, peaking at number one on the charts. The album also generated Top Ten hit singles such as Too Young to Die and Blow Your Mind.

The band has since released several successful albums such as The Return of the Space Cowboy (1994), Synkronized (1999), A Funk Odyssey (2001), among others. Their most recent studio album, Automaton was released in 2017.

Over the years, Jamiroquai have consistently built on their acid jazz sound from their early releases and later added a myriad of influences such as rock, disco, electronic and Latin music, amongst many other genres to enhance their sound. Lyrically, the group has addressed social and environmental themes and subjects.

The band has experienced global success in the form of more than 27 million album sales, multiple music awards, a Grammy Award and numerous sold-out world tours. Frontman Jay Kay has remained as the only original member through several lineup changes. Their third album, Travelling Without Moving (1996), received a Guinness World Record as the best-selling funk album in history. The music video for its lead single, Virtual Insanity, was a global sensation with Jay Kay dancing on a conveyor-belted floor, dodging sofas and defying gravity. The song was named Video of the Year at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards and earned the band a Grammy in 1998.✤
