When your father Edoardo Caovilla first started making shoes, the focus was on couture and craftsmanship. Tell us why this is imperative to the Caovilla DNA.

He was a dreamer and after the First and Second World War everything was dark and sad, so, he wanted to give elegance and colour to his creations. He wanted to combine craftsmanship and haute couture to give a touch of extreme elegance. In this way the shoes become real jewels and gems. What was the inspiration behind the Fall Winter 2017 collection design, and what does it represent?

A dip into the past revisited for a contemporary woman, different inspirations for different iconic shapes. The luxurious opulence of mink; full, rich and sensuous which further creates desire and satisfaction to the touch. In high contrast to sparkling crystals, the glamorous couple form a perfect Yin and Yang balance. René Caovilla’s creativity translates into exquisitely crafted shoes with an impeccable fit designed and developed for contemporary women, who are aware of their strength, beauty and uniqueness.

In your Fall Winter 2017-2018 campaign we see Sicilian model Giulia Maenza revealing different traits of her personality by posing with different attitudes. This is exalted by the selection of eight René Caovilla high-end footwear creations, all coming in a chic black tone. Why have you chosen this elegant and sophisticated, yet effortless approach?

The choice of doing our Fall Winter campaign had the purpose of showing the new contemporary and sophisticated Caovilla woman. Giulia Maenza is a young Italian model that represents our sophistication with her beauty perfectly. The renowned photographer ‘Giampaolo Sgura’ and stylist ‘Viviana Volpicella’ added to this Italian dream team with their vision and experience to translate into images the timeless beauty of our Brand.
