A Hair Affair

Winter brings with it shorter days, chilly breezes, and an abundance of celebrations. It’s also the most social season of the calendar, and we’ve discovered just the address to make sure you look your best:

It’s all about the locks when creating a look for a special occasion, and Roots never disappoints when a killer hairstyle is on the agenda. I walk into The Pearl-Qatar branch bright and early on a Saturday morning, second-day hair in tow.

We always recommend giving the salon a call before to make sure you prepare for your appointment, and we all know that secondday hair makes for better hairdos. A visit to the salon for a little pampering is always such a treat, but considering current-day circumstances? Practically a luxury. I’m greeted with smiling eyes, masks and all, and taken to my chair – this is where it all happens. After a brief consultation on the look for the day, the hairstylist begins to work her magic as she rakes through tangled knots and begins to straighten and curl. Each lock is sectioned and carefully crafted into the perfect wisp and, in no time, my tresses bounce off my shoulders and cascade over my back into beautiful ringlets. And we aren’t event halfway through! As the ringlets settle in their new structures, my crown is carefully teased to give volume and create a base for the hairstyle. The precision and swiftness with which each lock is lifted and pinned up into an orb has me mesmerised, and my hair is done before I know it.

The stylist carefully crafts the finishing touches and plucks out a couple of strands to softly frame my face, giving me serious Old Hollywood vibes. To complete the look, she adds in a few small stems of baby’s breath – because who doesn’t want to feel like a princess with flowers in her hair, right? Everything is now sprayed in place, thereby guaranteeing this gorgeous hairstyle can withstand any strong winds that make an unwanted appearance. Sitting back in the salon chair, I pause to really take it all in before I move onto my next beauty indulgence.

A trip to the salon is never quite complete without a mani-pedi; well-groomed digits add a polished touch to any outfit, regardless of the occasion. Plus, let’s face it: our hands and feet never take a day off and this gives me the perfect chance to pamper them for all that hard work. After selecting a beautiful shade of pastel pink, the pampering continues with sanitised equipment – because safety first. Each nail is delicately filed before it’s carefully painted, leaving behind a set of fingernails that is subtly pretty. Confession: I end up gesturing with my hands more than usual in the days that follow, flaunting my hands every chance I get.

Confidence boost taken care of, this visit to Roots sets the precedent for a fabulous day ahead. It’s a great place for hair, nails, and conversations in a clean, airy setting with stunning décor and a friendly vibe. It really is rooted – no pun intended – in the client experience.
