Gala Fernández Coordinadora del proyecto

Nació en Madrid en 1969. Se licenció en Bellas Artes (especialidad de diseño) en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y, posteriormente, completó su formación en el Istituto Europeo di Design de Milán donde estudió diseño industrial.

Ha trabajado como docente y coordinadora de diversos cursos y programas master hasta el año 2000 en la sede madrileña de la misma institución, donde en 2007 creó e implementó el programa European Design Labs.

Durante cuatro años, hasta el 2004, formó parte del equipo de Fabrica, el Centro Investigación para la Comunicación del Grupo Benetton, en Treviso. Allí coordinó el Departamento de diseño 3D, bajo la dirección de Jaime Hayón, y estuvo al frente de proyectos de repercusión mediática, como “Fabrica Features” (espacios culturales y comerciales) con sedes en Boloña , Lisboa, Hong Kong y Estambul ó la exposición itinerante “Colors 1000 extraordinary objects”.

A lo largo de este periodo fue comisaria y estuvo en la organización de numerosas exposiciones artísticas ligadas a Fabrica pero también a galerías como David Gill Galleries en Londres, la Galería Magenta y el Club 360º en Milán y Studio Camuffo en Venecia.

En 2004 fundó en Londres su estudio, Gala Fernández Ltd., para el que desarrolló proyectos de diseño de producto, arquitectura de interiores, distribución de productos de diseño, así como actividades de asesoría y representación de artistas y diseñadores.

Was born in Madrid in 1969. Graduated in Fine Arts (specialization in design) in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Complutense University of Madrid, later completed her training at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan where she studied industrial design.

She worked as a teacher and coordinator of several courses and master programs until 2000 at the Madrid headquarters of the same institution, where in 2007, she created and implemented the European Design Labs.

Over four years, until 2004, Gala was part of the team of Fabrica, the Center for Communication Research of the Benetton Group in Treviso. There she coordinated the Department of 3D Design, headed by Jaime Hayon, and was at the forefront of media projects such as “Fabrica Features” (cultural and commercial projects) with headquarters in Bologna, Lisbon, Istanbul and Hong Kong or exposure Roving “Colors 1000 extraordinary objects.”

Throughout this period she was commissioner and participated in the organization of numerous exhibitions related to Fabrica but also with galleries like David Gill Galleries in London, the Galería Magenta and Club 360º in Milan and Studio Camuffo in Venice.

In 2004 she founded her studio in London, Gala Fernández Ltd., where she developed projects of product design, interior architecture, distribution of design products, and advisory activities as well as representation for artists and designers.

En 2005 regresó a Madrid para trabajar en el estudio de Oscar Mariné (OMB diseño y comunicación visual).

A lo largo de su trayectoria profesional ha ofrecido numerosas conferencias relacionadas con el ámbito del diseño para instituciones públicas y privadas, de carácter nacional e internacional, entre las que destacan el Royal College of Art y la Goldsmiths University de Londres, la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Lisboa (FAUTL), la Universidad de Arquitectura de Estambul, el Nederland Architectuur Instituut de Rótterdam, la Escuela de Diseño del Tecnológico de Monterey en Querétaro (México) y la Escuela de Diseño de la Universidad Anáhuac en el Museo de Antropología e Historia de la Ciudad de México.

Actualmente, compagina su trabajo como project manager del departamento de empresas en el Istituto Europeo di Design de Madrid con otras actividades ligadas al mundo del diseño, el arte y la cultura en galafm studio.

Colabora de forma habitual en el desarrollo de diversos workshops, como los que organizan, en Boisbuchet, el MuseoVitra y el Museo Georges Pompidou, la Escuela de Diseño de la Universidad Anáhuac México Norte, colaboro con el Studio Banana y asesora y agente para diferentes empresas, instituciones, artistas y diseñadores.

In 2005 she returned to Madrid to work in Oscar Mariné’s studio (OMB design and visual communication).

Throughout her career she has given numerous lectures in the field of design for public and private institutions, both national and international, among which the most relevant are the Royal College of Art and Goldsmiths University of London, the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon (FAUTL), the University of Architecture of Istanbul, the Nederland Architectuur Instituut of Rotterdam, the School of Design at the Technological University of Monterey in Querétaro (Mexico) and the School of Design of the Universidad Anáhuac at the Museum of History and Anthropology in Mexico City.

Nowadays, she combines her work as project manager of the business department at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid with other activities related to the world of design, art and culture in galafm studio.

She collaborates on a regular basis in the development of various workshops, such as those organized by MuseoVitra and Georges Pompidou Museum in Boisbuchet, the School of Design of the Universidad Anahuac Mexico Norte, she collaborates with Studio Banana and is advisor and agent for different companies, institutions, artists and designers.
