Located in Dubai Design District, this project is designed to response to the art and design. The project is a design museum that houses the work of local and international artists. It includes permanent and temporary exhibition, café, offices, workshops, library, shop, and an auditorium. The concept of the project is to inject the water from waterfront into the site and fragment it. Interested by the fragmentation of nature, “delta” became the concept image of the project. The fragmentation forms two major divisions, hosting the two important exhibitions. Among these two exhibitions, there is an auditorium that becomes the key importance building in this project, linking the two exhibitions. Together, they become an iconic image, as a hand, holding a floating pearl. 4

Performative Urbanism
ARC 501 Fall 2015 Instructor: George Katodrytis The project started with a material exploration of creating a series of modular and larger structural diadgrid held together by external mass. These interlocking and linear elements have the capacity to expand and create interior spaces. The structure of the project consists of three elements: the primary elements are the main columns, the secondary elements are the thinner strings in various directions, and the third element is the material reacting and ‘gluing’ these elements together. The cast and crystallized material forms unique geometries and architectural spaces. Being similar to the process of melting and making gold, this project represents a jewelry market and museum near Gold Souq in Deira, Dubai, due to increase of tourists and visitors in this area. 10

Work-Shop
ARC 302 Spring 2014 Instructor: Faysal Tabbarah Based on a study of structural systems of dome and column, the design of a workshop and gallery space for a furniture designer was formed. Located in Sharjah Heritage Area, Work-Shop will house the furniture designer’s studio, fabrication space and gallery to sell the furniture pieces. The aim of this project was to create unique conditions related to sky above, the ground below, the light around by forming a canopy with hybrid structures of dome and column.

Live-Work
ARC 202 Spring 2013 Instructor: George Newlands Based on the location of the site in BastakiyahDubai, the purpose of this project was to create a space that is contextual and contemporary. The assigned client was an artist who enjoyed displaying artworks within his residence. The spaces were designed to response to live-work, public-private, create-display, and indooroutdoor experiences of the artist. Having central courtyard, garden roof top, and use of brick were based on the study of the building traditions and landscape in the context of the site.

Architectural Drawings
ARC 402 Spring 2014 Instructor: George Newlands The focus of this comprehensive design studio was to design a retreat project with multi units that insist on standard building construction practices. The site is a remote desert site that contains issues of topography and geology. The project targets the topography and responds to the landscape and topography by connecting these two hills, creating a forest of columns supporting the building. The approach started by doing a thorough site analysis. Next came the conceptual design followed by the schematic design. Sequence of programs starts from administration, gallery, dining, studios, and at the end are artists living units, dwellings, each having their own private courtyard. 22

Heightened Perspective
ARC 394 Summer 2014 Instructor: Faysal Tabbarah With the use of advanced digital techniques, Autodesk Maya, the design for a topological staircase originated from my study of natural means of ascending; a tree’s alternating branches, where differently sized linear elements extend and curve to define the volume of a tree. The organic structural system comprised of the twig, branch and the tree, form the concept of the rise, run and railing of a prototypical staircase and create various experiences through the dynamism of their movement. The 3D print illustrates this flow of movement, form, and material of this prototypical staircase.

Mediatheque
ARC 301 Fall 2013 Instructor: William Sarnecky Located in MuwailehSharjah, the site is not active in all the areas; it has unbalanced interaction of the crowd, and lack of public space. The project aims to provide a public space that brings social life to the community. Moreover, it can host workshops, promote exhibition, and provide spaces for children. The project started with the notion of outdoor cinema as a source of attraction. The outdoor seats are identified as a potential public space that is accessible at all the time; during the day as seats and skateboarding place, and during the night as seats for cinema.

Cyprus Retreat
ARC 201 Fall 2012 Instructor: Michael Hughes A retreat on the coastal borders of Cyprus, designed to celebrate natural elements of the site; the sea and the ancient olive trees. The project emphasizes on these two elements by framing them in public and private spaces, embracing unique views of existing nature on the site in each space of the retreat.

Furniture Object
ARC 237 Fall 2014 Instructor: Daniel Chavez A pure wooden furniture object designed as a stool that one can use as a seating or as a platform (table). The intention was to design a stool that stands on every side, and creates different views when one moves around it. By using box joints and glue, the pieces are locked and fixed into place; a method for improving hand craft while working with wood and not using any hardware.
36
Phone Container
ARC 294 Fall 2013 Instructor: Ken Tracy Based on a texture found in nature (artichoke plant), and extracting its essential character, the design for a phone container was formed. The texture was applied on a manipulated surface, forming a unique shape that made it to be a phone holder. The project was carried out by using Rhino, which led to nurbs surface modeling, and slicing the model to produce sections that can be laser cut for assembling the model out of chipboard material.
37
Container-Pedestal ARC 294 Fall 2013 Instructor: Ken Tracy
From the same texture (artichoke), a small container was modeled to host a valuable object such as a picture. Using Rhino and later Magic, the container was 3dprinted from z-corp powder. Then, a pedestal was designed from the same texture, out of paper strips and chipboard ribs that could be hung on the wall. By creating rough forms and sharp edges, a platform was created to hold the small 3dprinted container inside the pedestal.
38
Wall Tile
ARC 294 Fall 2013 Instructor: Ken Tracy This project is about designing an architectural element: a textured wall formed by aggregation of tiles. The design of tiles was based on a texture found in sea (coral), and using hexagon geometry as the module for aggregation. The prototype tile was milled at a scale of 1:1 using the CNC Router to produce a mold which later was used for thermoforming to mass with plastic to produce the tile for the wall.

Computer Aided Design
ARC 465 Fall 2015 Instructor: Faysal Tabbarah
Using Autodesk Maya, an animation was created by nparticles, letting particles to be emitted from a nucleus and then to be attracted to a created form: pentagonal volume. These techniques were used to design a pavilion, crafting an architectural space by controlling the height, entrance, and the way it seats on the ground.
40
Computer Aided Design
ARC 465 Fall 2015 Instructor: Faysal Tabbarah
This project explores the idea of an archetypical topic : a sheltering hut. By using Paint Brush tool In Maya, Simulation of a spatial shelter was designed by using SeaUrchin brush. This shelter has different layers of structure: a canopy and its branches extending downwards, acting as a surrounding layer.
