Please DO NOT place e-waste and chemicals into your bins or in the bulky waste collections. Save them for special Recycling CleanOut Days or take them to the Recycling Drop Off Centre and help save our environment. When e-waste and chemicals are sent to landfill, poisonous substances can leach into our environment. These substances can seep into groundwater, contaminate the soil and enter the food chain. Transporting your materials safely Transporting your materials safely to a Chemical CleanOut event is important. Here are some top tips for safe storage an transportation: • Ensure containers are clearly labelled and wellsealed. If you do not know the contents, label the container ‘UNKNOWN CHEMICAL’. • Wherever possible keep all chemicals in their original containers. • Never mix chemicals as this may produce dangerous reactions. • Liquid can leak during transportation. Wrap old or damaged containers in newspaper, place in a sturdy plastic bag and then in a plastic container or tray. • Keep household chemicals away from passengers e.g. in the boot. • Before attending, place all materials in the rear of your vehicle. On arrival, remain in your vehicle and our contractor will collect your items. YOURANDCOVERSECURELOAD
