Fairfield City Council’s Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography

Competition is an annual competition open to all amateur and emerging creatives residing in Fairfield City. This year saw 389 submissions entered across the visual arts, photography and Waste to Art categories.

We extended the Waste to Art category to include ‘repurposed suburb banners’, offering a chance for adults to make something creative or practical from worn suburb banners that would otherwise have gone into landfill. The category was also offered to primary schools once again as a collective class project for years 3 to 6.

The competition’s ‘Love Where You Live’ theme attracted entries in the primary, secondary and adult sections which showcased the landscapes, experiences and attractions unique to Fairfield City.

These pages feature just some of this year’s fantastic entries which are also on display at Council’s Administration Centre and Whitlam Library, Cabramatta for a short time.

Thank you to everyone who entered the competition and congratulations to our winners. We have enjoyed exploring Fairfield City through your eyes and look forward to next year’s submissions.

Message from the Mayor

The 2023 Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition presented participants with the opportunity to visually interpret the ‘Love Where You Live’ theme to capture the essence of the City.

This year’s competition submissions were our best yet! The calibre of works was impressive and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter. As I look through each submission, I feel great pride for our City and the creativity expressed by our residents.

I hope you find the time to visit the exhibitions at Council’s Administration Centre and Whitlam Library, Cabramatta and get inspired to enter next year.

Frank Carbone Mayor of Fairfield
