STANDARDIZED TEST OPTIONAL POLICY
• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is highly recommended if you have resided in the U.S. for fewer than five years and English is not your native language
• Interview (optional) Fairfield acknowledges that standardized test scores can be shaped by environmental and cultural factors that make them a less-than-ideal gauge of your capacity for success. Our findings, which are consistent with those of other institutions, are that your high school record in general is a better predictor of future success than your standardized test scores. Our application review is holistic, taking into consideration all aspects of a student’s application for admission. Accordingly, we made the decision to make the submission of standardized test scores optional. Each applicant may choose whether to submit his/her test scores as part of the application process.
