he shelves are stocked high with candy canes, cookies, and all sorts of sweet treats. Our butcher has brought out the finest roasts. All around the store, there’s an air of good
cheer… it must be the holidays at Fairway! And that means it’s time to gather ‘round with our favorite people and celebrate the season with laughs, love, and lots of good food.
Hosting a holiday gathering is easy with the right recipes and ingredients. Fairway Market has got you covered on that end: from festive grab-and-go items to everything you need to whip up a gourmet feast, you’ll find everything you need in our stores. But if you’re still wondering just how you’re going to please everyone on your guest list, we’ve got a few tips on how to put together an easy, no-fail party spread with all the best ingredients.
NO PARTY IS COMPLETE WITHOUT A DIP (OR SEVERAL). Head to our deli section to find all of our best, freshly-made dips for dunking and scooping, from creamy guacamole to zesty salsas to a mind-blowing array of hummus, we have plenty of ways to fill out your appetizer spread. FAIRWAY COFFEE FUDGE BROWNIES INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS:
4 oz butter (1 stick)
•
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
1 1/4 cups flour
•
Lightly grease a 9- by 9-inch baking pan
1 1/2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon kosher salt
with cooking spray or butter. •
3/4 cups cocoa powder
Melt butter in the microwave or in a small saucepan. Set aside to cool slightly.
3 eggs, cracked
•
Mix together flour, sugar, salt and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
2 tsp vanilla extract
•
Beat together eggs, melted butter, vanilla and
1/3 cup strongly-brewed Fairway coffee (you can use leftover coffee)

3/4 cup chocolate chips or roughly chopped nuts (optional)
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips or nuts if using. Stir until just combined.

Powdered sugar for dusting
Pour mixture into greased pan and spread out evenly. Bake in oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 35-40 minutes.

Let cool once done, then dust lightly with powdered sugar. Cut into squares before serving. Tip: Use stencils or paper cut outs to dust the sugar on in a decorative pattern.

We’ve put together some tips for building your own masterpiece, and we have experts in every department waiting to help if you lose your footing!

PRESERVES, JAMS AND SPREADS:
Stop by the cheese counter and speak with our cheesemongers. Tell them a bit about what you’re looking for, and they will help you pick the perfect options for your tray. As a general rule of thumb, you’ll want to get at least one in each of these categories— creamy, soft, semi-hard, goat cheese and blue cheese. Make sure you cover everything from mild to stinky—after all, the cheese is the star of the show!
Be sure to cover sweet, savory, and salty with this category. Whole grain mustard, red pepper spread, olive tapenade, Cara Cucina, fig jam and raspberry preserves are our favorites!

Similarly, you’ll want to make sure you get an assortment of cuts and textures that range from mild to bold. We recommend one cured, hard sausage; a pate or rillette; something smoked; and a thin-sliced cut of cured pork leg. If you need help deciding, visit our delicatessen and ask the experts behind the counter.
BRINE: Virtually anything that you can find at our world-class olive bar—olives, pepperoncini, cornichons or any pickled vegetable will be perfect.
You’ll need three varieties for this category— salted, candied, and raw.
THE VEHICLE: We like to keep it simple for this one. Grab a few Fairway baguettes and have them sliced at the bakery. Keep half of the slices soft and fresh, and toast the other half to make crostini.
