Acts of Faith
MAR 2019
We are a family of faith, sharing God’s love in a spirit of hope.
We will be continuing our Kids Around the World Bible Study on Wednesday nights in March. When Jesus told us to love our neighbors, he didn’t just mean the people next door. We will get to know kids just like us in other countries and learn about missionaries who are sharing God’s love around the world! Children will also be learning how we might be small but we can do BIG things with God. On Wednesday, March 27, we will have another CRAZY NIGHT! This time our theme is Master Chef Junior and we’ll spend the evening cooking up some fun with a cupcake decorating contest. Taste-testing is a given! We will have a Children’s Team meeting on Sunday, March 24, immediately following worship.
{March: when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold!} Join us on Monday, March 18, for our senior adult lunch at 11 a.m. -- come hungry! On Friday, March 22, we will have "dinner" and a movie at 6 p.m. in the RA. We are all ministers at Faith -giving hope to those who are hurting by bringing them out of the darkness and into the sunshine. —Dale
We’re going to lunch at Formaggio Italiano on Sunday, March 3! Bring money. Parents can pick up students at the restaurant. Join our Worship Team! If you’re interested, meet by the piano right after the service on the 3rd before we head to lunch.
Jan and I enjoy traveling. This summer we hope to take a road trip to the great Northwest. There are three states in the mainland USA that we have never visited: Oregon, Washington, and North Dakota. I have bought a new Rand McNally road atlas and renewed my membership in AAA. I have been studying potential routes and checking the possibilities of a few rounds of golf along the way at Whistling Straights in Kohler, Wisconsin, Bandon Dunes in Oregon, and Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington. With all the driving and riding I thought a round of golf or two would be a good place to stretch my legs! Of course, Mark Twain called golf, “A good walk spoiled” and my preliminary findings suggest that resort golf is rather pricey and may not make it to our final itinerary! What we do hope to experience is the beauty and wonder of God’s creation. A visit to Glacier National Park and driving along the Pacific Coast are certain to be on our route, as well as a visit to Seattle and Portland and lots of places in between. We look forward to traveling! March 6 is Ash Wednesday and begins our Lenten journey. The purpose of Lent is to prepare Christians for the celebration of Easter. It’s a season of prayer and reflection. Some believers choose to commit to fasting during the 40-day period; others add a spiritual discipline like prayer or devotional reading to remind us of Christ’s sacrifice and His difficult road to the cross that culminated in glorious resurrection! During the Lenten season I will be preaching a series of sermons that I’m calling “Traveling With Jesus.” Over the next several weeks we will reflect on various Scriptures in Luke’s Gospel that reveal Jesus on the Lenten journey. We will travel with Jesus as our guide and companion on our way to Easter. Our itinerary includes Weeping With Jesus, Worshipping With Jesus, Teaching With Jesus, Praying With Jesus, Eating With Jesus, Suffering With Jesus, and Hoping With Jesus. Our summer trip promises to be fun and informative, but traveling with Jesus promises to be life-changing!
March Madness in the Middle School Sunday School Class! We are collecting new or slightly used shoes for Lighthouse Ministries. There is a box labeled to collect the shoes in the main hallway. Thank you so much for helping and loving others!

Dear Faith family, It’s the time of year when I try to get to the bottom of the boxes, baskets and folders in my office. I spent some time this week actually going through a box I had avoided looking through containing stacks of sympathy, birthday, get well cards and letters from three years ago when my husband passed and within two months I had cancer. I was surprised that, rather than making me sad, I so enjoyed reading them. Such sweet notes and encouraging sentiments! They inspired gratitude for all my supportive friends and family. Remembering back to the time I received these cards, it now seems all a blur. I do remember reading them, but was not able to take them into my heart at the time. I do not remember if I even mentioned to people at the time how much I appreciated their concern. I have so enjoyed their beauty (which I recycle using the nice papers and pictures in my art and in workshops) and kindness, which warms me again. Thank all of you so much. Blessings, Jawanna Herd
