Acts of Faith
JULY 2019
We are a family of faith, sharing God’s love in a spirit of hope.
Back to School Bash We are once again partnering with four local churches to provide a Back to School Bash on August 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church for elementary students who need assistance with school supplies. We are responsible for providing a new backpack, pair of sneakers, and socks for 50 children. If you are willing to sponsor a child or want to volunteer at the event, please sign up in the foyer on Sundays, July 14 or 21. If you will not be at church on those days, please contact Dawne McConnaughhay or Sarah Marinelli to sign up. More information is available on the bulletin board.
Church Benevolent Cooperative The Church Benevolent Cooperative was created so churches could come together and share resources to be the hands and feet of Christ in Scott County. Each church contributes money and volunteers to meet with and build relationships with individuals and families to share the love of Christ, and to help in times of financial crisis and beyond. The CBC is a ministry of the various churches, with a board consisting of members from those churches. The board meets in the Transform Scott County offices, but the CBC is separate from TSC. Since January we have helped over 65 individuals and families and shared over $10,000 in benevolent funds for things such as rent, utilities, child care, gas and more. Please continue to give to this benevolent offering (collected on first Sundays) and sign up to volunteer with the CBC! It is truly a life-changing ministry for all involved.
J.O.Y. News
{Hello, July. Take your time. Stay awhile.}
Come join us for our senior adult potluck on Monday, July 15, at 11 a.m. as Wilson Insko (Judith & Wallace’s grandson) tells us about the Governor’s Scholars Program. The following Friday, July 26, is Fun & Games Night. Join us for snacks and Scrabble, Dominos, and other games in the RA at 7 p.m. As Faith turns the page and begins a new chapter with Pastor William, let us all “be the light” for others. [Matthew 5:14] -- Dale
Words from our (New!) Pastor Hello! Thank you so much for the abundant hospitality you have already shown Cecelia and me. We are thrilled to finally be here and look forward to getting to know you. As I meet people and have conversations it has struck me just how many incredible people are part of this family of faith. I am blown away by the number of gifts, talents, and truly good people present in the congregation. Faith has a foundation of strong heritage and traditions that are propelling the church forward in serving the kingdom of God for years to come. I truly believe that God is up to something at Faith Baptist and I am honored to be a part of it. As we begin doing life together, I would like to make three commitments to you as your new pastor. First, I promise that I will always strive to seek the will of God for myself, the church, and Georgetown. As the Lord’s Prayer puts it, I pray that God’s will be done, and God’s kingdom come here as it is in heaven. Second, I promise to build relationships with you that are permeated with love and respect. A retired pastor once told me, “If you love people, everything else seems to sort itself out.” Given the wonderful people I have already met, this should not be too hard of a promise to keep. Finally, I promise to always help you pursue what God is nudging you toward. The first minister listed in the Ministers section of the bulletin is “Each Member of the Congregation.” Each of us have a role to play in the ministry of God to the world. I am committed to helping equip and empower you to live out God’s dream for your life.

This month we will welcome our partners in ministry! We live in this beautiful, complex world with neighbors from every walk of life and in every corner of the globe. Our partners help us spread the love of Christ in places we may never be able to physically go, and in ways we never imagined. We celebrate our partners as we pray, as we give, and as we serve with them. {Faith’s Ministry Partners: Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, CBF Kentucky, Church Benevolent Cooperative, Amen House, Elizabeth’s Village, The Gathering Place Mission, Baptist Seminary of Kentucky, Georgetown College, Transform Scott County, Baptist World Alliance, Georgetown Reading Camp}
