Everything has changed! We are entering into the time of the color purple. Purple is an important and serious color because it is the color of kings and queens. And something serious is about to happen. We are getting ready to welcome a king. But this is a different king than any other king that has ever been. This king was a baby who was born in a barn! December is an exciting month as we get ready for the mystery of Christmas. Here are a few things to remember as we journey together through Advent.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER

The children have been working hard and are excited to present their Best Christmas Pageant play to the church family on Wednesday, December 7, during our weekly Wednesday night gatherings in the RA. We will enjoy dinner together at 5:30 and then the children will present their play as the program. It will be a fun evening full of smiles and laughter so we hope that you will join us.

POLAR EXRESS PANCAKE BREAKFAST

We are looking at putting together a morning full of treats and crafts for the children on Tuesday, December 20. We will begin the day with pancakes and play games and crafts around the movie Polar Express! More details to come so be on the lookout for emails and information in the bulletin.

CHILDREN’S BOOK OF THE MONTH

It's a heartwarming tale about a dog named Claude who seems to have everything. On Christmas morning Claude shares everything he can with a homeless dog named Bummer who hasn't anything, not even a family who loves him. It is a beautiful reminder of being thankful for all that we have been given by sharing it with others.

Advent is one of my very favorite times!! So much to prepare and plan and so much good time with people you love all in a short four weeks! I hope you will be able to join us over the next month for all of our preparations and celebrations! Our family of Faith has much love to share and this is a perfect time to bring friends and neighbors to church!

It's an ELF Christmas! Middle School Christmas Party December 3, from 6 8 pm at the Rashleigh's home, 166 Glass Pike, Georgetown, KY. We'll have food, games, Elf Trivia, AND we will paint Christmas cookies!! Sign up with Sharon and bring your friends!

Pageant rehearsal!

Christmas is upon us and it’s time to celebrate the season! As C.S. Lewis says, “Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than the whole world.” Rick Warren says, “Peace with God, peace with others, and peace in your own heart!”

Christmas reminds us of the birth of our Savior and the immense love he had for us. It is an important time to share with your family, friends and loved ones. Hopefully, Christmas will inspire people to remember the incredible sacrifice God made by sending Jesus in the world for us and allowing us to keep our energy high through the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

The JOY group is pleased to announce our activities for December!

• Christmas at Mustard Seed Hill Saturday December 3rd, leaving church at 4 PM and going to Trackside for dinner prior to lights.

• JOY Christmas Luncheon Monday, December 12 at 11 AM. Bring “White Elephant gift (a funny gift). Maybe use something you already have on hand!

Words from William

Happy Advent! In years past, Christmas snuck up on me, popping out like it doesn’t happen the same day every year. I’m used to saying “I can’t believe it’s Christmas already, it doesn’t feel like it.” However, this year is different. Advent is all about preparing for Christmas and that is what I’m doing! I didn’t even complain (too much) when our Christmas trees went up before Thanksgiving. Maybe it’s the chaos of the last few years, maybe it’s because this is the first holiday without my mom, maybe I’m longing for the light of Christ, but this Christmas feels like it’s been coming for a long time. So, no declarations of surprise, merely wonder as we prepare for the birth of Jesus.

There are a few differences to our usual Advent Calendar I would like to highlight for you.

First, we are adding an 11 PM Christmas Eve service option. To be clear, the 5 PM service in the Sanctuary will still happen as it always does. All are welcome to gather in the RA at 11 PM on Christmas Eve for a service of carols, candlelight, and communion to usher in Christmas Day. It will feel a bit more relaxed, intimate, and mysterious. Late night Christmas Eve services are a tradition that I love and I am excited to worship with you!

Second, every seven years Christmas happens to fall on Sunday and the professional church world goes wild! Pastors everywhere have internal debates about what to do. Will they make accommodations to a worship that falls on Christmas morning?! Many choose to forgo Christmas morning service so that people can spend time with their families at home. We appreciate that perspective, but feel it is important to still have worship. We will gather at 11 AM Christmas Morning in the RA for a worship service with carols, scripture, and a do it yourself nativity! It will be a light and joyous way to celebrate the birth of Jesus with your family of Faith! Note: there WILL NOT be Sunday School or an all church breakfast on Christmas Morning, just worship.

We have special Advent Wednesday nights planned this month!

November 30 Prepare for Christmas with a Christmon and Nativity craft night and Breakfast for Dinner!

December 7 We really get in the Christmas Spirit with soups and the Children’s Christmas Pageant performance! December 14 The best way to spread cheer CAROLING! We’ll eat pizza and head out to sing for people!

It might seem wild to already be thinking about Spring, but we wanted to give you a heads up about Wednesday nights next semester. January is a cold, dark, and often snowy month which historically leads to low Wednesday night participation. Instead of fighting illness and ice this year, we will delay gathering for Wednesday nights until February 1. During January we will use some of the skills we learned in COVID to provide midweek ways to grow in knowledge and community while staying bundled up at home.

Each Wednesday night in January we’ll have a virtual Bible study on Facebook. Four people will gather on Zoom and have a live discussion about a chapter of the Bible that will be streamed on Facebook. Hop on the live video and participate in the discussion through the comments or go back later and watch the conversation whenever you can! We will also hold our 3rd Annual Faith Baptist Virtual Winter Olympics! Every week contestants will receive a challenge to complete and at the end of the week we will gather on Zoom to view the entries and award points.

On February 1 we will joyously resume Wednesday night meals and programming for all ages!
