Ministry UPDATE

When Arthur Burrell lost his job after 18 years of service, the family couldn’t stay afloat financially. The $280,000 home they had built just a year before was going into foreclosure, and the Burrells didn’t know where they were going to live or where their son was going to go to school. Times were very difficult. “We were up to our necks in debt and stress,” Arthur’s wife Sharon says. “Every day I would say, ‘How are we going to pay for this?”

God will restore you with more, just like He said He would do. But, Sharon says they were encouraged and were believing God despite their situation, “I had heard Gary on the Sid Roth show and had told Arthur about the message. He ended up catching it and we ordered the Now Revolution series. That’s how we got the encouragement and the faith to keep going. When we heard Gary’s stories, we said, ‘This is just like what we’re going through. There is hope!’”

The Burrells were able to remain in their home for two years. Sharon says she’s thankful they weren’t required to leave. “It was stressful, but at least we were able to stay there. Every day, we would play the Now Revolution CDs throughout the house. We learned so much in those days. We learned how debt could be so crippling, and we learned how we were really supposed to be looking at the Kingdom.”

The Burrells say they were believing God that Arthur would get his job back, but Sharon says that wasn’t enough for Arthur, “Arthur kept saying that he didn’t just want his job back, he wanted to be restored. I thought he was crazy! We didn’t have an attorney and I thought he should just be happy to get a job.” Sure enough, after four long years of waiting, Arthur was offered his job back, WITH ALL OF HIS BACK PAY. Sharon says she knows that’s unheard of. “When I share this story,” she says, “I emphasize that we didn’t have legal help. THIS WAS NOTHING BUT GOD.” But the Burrell’s story doesn’t end there. God didn’t just restore Arthur’s pay, He also restored their home. They were able to purchase a house with cash with Arthur’s back-pay. Sharon says it didn’t occur to her at first, but the house they were able to purchase with cash is of the same caliber as the home they had lost to foreclosure, with all of the same features and upgrades she had originally asked God for. “We didn’t go backward,” Sharon says. “Now, every time someone comes into our home, they see the testimony that God will restore you with more, just like He said He would do.”

Why am I here? What am I supposed to do with my life? Where do I fit? These are questions I get quite often as a pastor. People want to make a difference. They want to contribute. They don’t want to just live for Friday at 5pm. I know. I went through those same thoughts in my late teens. And through the years, as I’ve discovered the answer to those questions for myself, I’ve also found peace and great contentment. If you’ll listen to what I’m about to share with you, and heed my advice, I believe you’ll propel yourself toward your destiny, and find those answers for yourself.

First, you’ll never discover the answers to those questions until you give your life to the One who created you. Because everything in nature has a unique design and is unique in how it relates to its function, including you. Take a duck for example. It has a bill that was made for sifting vegetation under water. It has webbed feet and feathers that are waterproof to enable it to swim on the water. All of creation has been uniquely made. We have different talents and gifts. Just like in nature, our unique characteristics as individuals give us a clue to God’s design and purpose for our lives. The secret to catching a glimpse of our destiny is in discovering how we’re different. Acts 17:26
says that God has already determined the times set and the exact places for every man. God knows where you are and why you’re here. He has a very specific plan for your 3

“WHERE DO I Fit?” How to Find Your Place in This Life by gary keesee life. Maybe He hasn’t told you about it, but there’s a reason. He wants your destiny to stay a mystery until you’re ready to step into it.

God knows where you are and why you’re here. He has a very specific plan for your life. Maybe He hasn’t told you about it, but there’s a reason.

He does that on purpose, to protect you from the enemy, and to surprise the enemy. Remember how Herod had all of the boys in Bethlehem and the surrounding areas killed because he was trying to kill Jesus? Herod had heard the prophecy about Jesus from the Magi when they passed through town. When Herod couldn’t find the boy, he had every boy killed in the area. So, what would Satan do if he understood your Godgiven purpose? He’d bring pressure and circumstances against you to stop God’s plan

for you. To keep that from happening, God doesn’t give us a clear picture of our future in the beginning. He doesn’t want us, in our immaturity, to make it known to the enemy. Instead, He wisely leads us toward our destiny with glimpses, and He does it right under the enemy’s nose until we’re mature and the timing is right to reveal it to us. Then, when you see God’s plan, you’ll realize He’s been training you for that moment all along, and the enemy is blindsided because he never saw you coming. Now, that’s a great strategy, and God’s wisdom works for our good, but sometimes there’s a gap in time between the glimpses and dreams and the actual intersection of time and destiny. At my 19th birthday party, God gave me a glimpse of my destiny. As I sat there at the table about to take my first bite, the Holy Spirit came on me and caught me off guard.

Take a Step Forward Whether we’re trying to find our fit, we’ve seen a glimpse of our destiny, or we’re waiting for God to reveal our purpose, we can’t just take a seat and wait. We have to take action. Here are a few practical steps we can take to move forward: Start with your hobbies. Think about the things that make you jump out of bed when you know that you’re going to spend the day doing them. Are they just hobbies, or are they true talents? Could one of them become your marketplace ministry? Remember what you used to love to do. What things have you let drop because you’ve gotten busy with life? What do you find yourself still reading about or searching the Internet about? Are they just timewasters, or do they have real potential for purpose? Experiment with something new. Be open to new experiences. Sign up for something that stretches you. Volunteer. Take a course. Odds are, you’ll do more than just learn a new skill. Take an assessment. There are plenty of career assessments available out there, but you’d be better off understanding your ministry giftings. Don’t box yourself in, though. Use assessments only to help guide you.

The anointing was so strong that I asked to be excused from the table, and I stepped out in the backyard for a moment. As I did that, the anointing got even stronger and I saw a picture of me standing, with a Bible in my hand, teaching people who were sitting in folding chairs. I noticed that the windows of the meeting room were dark and then a voice said three times in a row, “You are called to preach my Word.” Then, the anointing lifted as quickly as it had come and I made my way back to the party, stunned. Now, I knew I had been called to preach God’s Word from that glimpse, but instead of just launching out and starting to preach, God told me to go to college first. Let me tell you, I wasn’t thrilled about that, having ended high school with a 1.3 grade point average. But I listened. I wish I could say that it was fun and easy, but it wasn’t. In fact, finishing college was one of the hardest things I had done up to that point in my life. So, my point is – although God called me to preach, He gave me no further instructions toward the vision. Why didn’t He just send me off preaching around the world when I was first called? Because I couldn’t write or spell! How effective would I have been for God if I couldn’t communicate? He had given me the vision so I could start on the correct path. He didn’t need to give me any further details at that point because they weren’t needed. I only needed to know what to do next. And that is all you need to know. You can’t get impatient. You can’t move out in front of God, because you’ll fail. You have to get the character and the training you need in order to complete the task. Luke 16:10 helps explain this principle. It says, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property who will give you property of your own?” God wants to help you. Submit to His training. Pass the test. Then, watch Him reveal your destiny and purpose! Get additional resources from Gary at GARYKEESEE.com

Some ruts are so powerful you don’t even realize you’re in one. You get so wrapped up in routine that business as usual is forever business as usual. Here are five warning signs for ruts. Look at these points honestly and objectively, because deluding yourself is a sure sign you’re headed toward or already calcified in ‘rutdom’. You can’t take ruts lightly because if you stay in one long enough, it can turn into a grave. In fact, the only difference between a rut and a grave is how deep it is and how long you’re in it. So as you read through these five signs of ruts, pay attention and make adjustments because the first rule of ruts is to stop digging.

You miGht bE in A ruT iF...

1.

you can’t remember the last time you tried something for the first time. This includes your business and personal life. You visit the same restaurants, order the same food, shop at the same stores, wear the same clothes, watch the same television programs and listen to the same music. You play it close to the vest at work, immersing yourself in the safe routine and your production, attitude and track record are consistent—consistently average.

You Might Be In a Rut If... by Dave Anderson

2.

You miGht bE in A ruT iF...

you compare yourself to others more than to your former self. You let yourself off the hook because you’re better than average, even though you aren’t much better, or perhaps even worse, than you used to be. You work hard on your job but no longer work on yourself. You climbed a mountain and built a retirement home there rather than look for a higher mountain. You can’t overcome acrophobia, so you plateau and maintain a life designed to be stretched.

3.

You miGht bE in A ruT iF...

you’ve become comfortable living a life filled with goals mostly unrealized. You spend more time watching others live out their dreams on television and in the tabloids than you do pursuing your own aspirations. You’ve settled too early, too cheaply. You spend more time varnishing the past than constructing the future. Average has become acceptable and, because you’ve settled for a good life, you will never live a great one.

4.

You miGht bE in A ruT iF...

you find yourself playing the victim. You spend more time focusing on what you’re owed rather than what you owe others. You blame your state more on outside conditions than inside decisions. You haven’t come to grips with the fact that you’re reaping the consequences of the behavior you’ve sown. Instead, you decry your bad breaks and envy those around you who seem to get them all.

5.

You miGht bE in A ruT iF...

you haven’t made a big mistake lately. You’ve stopped playing to win and, instead, play not to lose. Just about the time you are within striking distance of something great, you let up and break your own momentum. No one blocks your path to greater things; you just can’t get out of your own way. You don’t make major errors, but you never have a

breakthrough either. If you’re in a rut, the answer to morale is action. Set new goals and redesign your life. Work and live with a sense of urgency and positive expectation. Pay more attention to and renew gratitude for the little blessings that come your way. Start giving more to others. Look harder for possibilities than problems, and since you can’t behave in a manner inconsistent with how you see yourself, see yourself as unstoppable. Your age doesn’t matter, because if you’re not going to do anything with your life, how long you live is irrelevant. And if you do decide to do something significant with your life, it doesn’t matter how late you start. You simply must start. Take the first step and the next is easier. No one else can get you out of a rut, and that’s good news because it means you’re in control. When you leave your rut, you start to fulfill your promise and potential. And when you do so, you don’t do it simply for yourself. You fulfill your potential because your family deserves it. You do it because your organization needs it. And most importantly, you do so because the God who created you expects it. This article was reprinted with permission from The Dave Anderson Corporation and learntolead.com. Copyright 1999-2011. SURE WE CAN!

By Drenda Keesee

I

I’m from the south. In the south, we say “for sure. ” If someone asks, “Can you get that done?” we say, “For sure!” When you look at the word sure, it really means assurance—it really means faith. Because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence, the assurance of what we don’t see yet. Faith says, “For sure! Sure we can! We can take that on!” Faith knows that you and God are a team, and that, together, you can accomplish anything.

so they can fight it out and try to figure out how to do it. That brings chaos and division and strife. You get nothing done that way. Look at what happened with Moses. He went away for a little while. While he was gone, the people decided he was taking too long. They decided to form their own mission and it resulted in a golden calf and a bunch of mess. You can see all the way through the Word of God how He gave a mission and a direction to a man or woman, and they had followers, and together they accomplished something As a team, we follow God, and we follow a for God. leader. God always uses a leader when He wants to get something done. He gives a Now, God gives a vision to a leader and He God-ordained leader a mission. He doesn’t wants to inspire others through that leader, give a whole congregation a scattered vision but it’s our choice what kind of followers

we’re going to be. All of us are called to be great support ministers. We all have a specific gifting. We all have a destiny. When we don’t learn how to follow a leader, we’re never going to get where we’re supposed to go. We have to be willing to come under a leader,

we can!’ when you’re asked to do something you don’t like to do? You know, people think the disciples did all these great things, but they started out paying taxes, getting a donkey for Jesus, ushering the people, finding food, rowing the boat, and handling logistics. The

disciples served the mission. The real measure of success isn’t personal gain. It’s obedience to God’s mission. You and I have a choice whether or not we’re going to come under that mission and follow that man or woman of God into our destiny. Many times we’re asked to do things that don’t look like they’re part of our destiny to test our hearts, to see if we’ll say yes, to show our motives, or to help us learn to give, or to serve, or to love when we don’t feel like it. It might not be your passion, but it’s God’s passion and we should say yes. God has given all of us an opportunity to serve a man of God. God has given him a vision and all of our destinies are connected to that mission. How we serve that mission will determine how high we rise.

We can be ambitious, or we can follow the mission. Ambition is self-motivated. It’s about what you can do on your own, what you can get out of it. Mission, on the other hand, is God-motivated and focused on others. Ambition is quitting if it doesn’t appear to be working out. Mission won’t let you . The Bible says God is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. There is reward in following God’s mission. When Gary and I started our financial business, we started it because we knew what it was like to feel that, to live in the pressure of debt. We wanted something more for other’s lives. But people laughed at the name. They laughed because we weren’t going to charge anything. But, as we kept with the mission, God began to prosper it. When something is on the inside of you and you know you’re called to it, you won’t quit.

Nehemiah was one example of a man who took God’s mission personally. When he found out what had been happening to his brethren, he mourned. Then, he took responsibility for it. He was a man of leadership. He was the When you’re ambitious, you want the credit king’s cupbearer. He couldn’t have been and the recognition. If you‘re not faithful in your position at Mission isn’t about me, it’s about the part I McDonalds, you won’t get promoted to the play in fulfilling the mission. Serve the mission next assignment. followers so our leaders can be good leaders. While Nehemiah was being faithful to the king, there were a few people who were being faithful to Nehemiah. Those are the people he took with him on his mission. Nehemiah gave a mission, but the people had to do something too. They had to say, “Sure we can!” They had to put their hands to the plow. And, no sooner had they started, their enemies started to rise up against them. Then, Nehemiah’s own brethren tried to tear them down. But, they didn’t let the criticism stop them. Nehemiah positioned the people. They had to learn to be warriors and workers at the same time. In chapter seven all of the names of the people who came under Nehemiah’s vision are listed. They were willing to lay their life down, to work around the clock, warring and working. In chapter eight, it says all of the people gathered together “as one man”. They had unified themselves around the mission God had given Nehemiah. It’s beautiful. All these years, their city had been lying in ruin, but because one man was willing to answer the cause, and because the people joined him, everything changed. They completed the mission.

Leaders need our support. They need likeminded people to undergird them and keep them lifted. If you’ve been called to a mission, you shouldn’t tear any piece of it down. Leaders make mistakes. Forgive them. Remember that they’re not perfect. They’re not invincible. They have fears and struggles. They face burdens. They need godly men and women who are willing to take the helm and say, “Sure we can! We’re behind you! We’re going to do this thing together!” So, be a great support minister. Be loyal, have a great attitude, and don’t gossip or align yourself against what God is doing. Have a servant’s heart, communicate good things, multiply yourself in others, sow into others, and show integrity, wisdom, confidentiality and professionalism. Be faithful, enthusiastic, growth-oriented, and self-motivated. Every part of this mission is valuable. It’s all part of the big picture. It’s all part of His design and plan. You can reach your destiny by following. Work together to build God’s Kingdom!

LETTERS FROM YOU

My wife and I would like to thank you so much for your ministry. We first came across your television program a few years ago. Since then, we have paid off our home mortgage. In fact, we were able to pay off 1/2 our mortgage in just 12 months without any major change in income. We just listened to What a Difference a Year Can Make. We also just welcomed our first child a couple of weeks ago. This too was an answer to prayer (We had been unable to have children through our own efforts). We praise God for the amazing changes in our lives and His continued blessing on your ministry! – Todd Weaver, Marysville, Ohio

We sowed a small financial seed into your ministry and received our prayer and petition for back child support to be restored. After tithes and offering, I was able to purchase a monthly bus pass that is a great help. I was also able to apply some money to another bill. I will continue to apply the Kingdom principles you are teaching, and I believe we will see continued results. I thank God for you. BE GREATLY BLESSED. -Lorraine, St. Louis, Missouri

In 2010, I was going through a very hard year financially although I was growing strong in faith and in God’s Word. I had lost my job and I was working freelance and part time only. I was also supporting my daughter and granddaughter as they were going through a divorce. We believed God for every need to be met and every bill to be paid in full and on time. They were. Many times there was little to eat, but I still continued to give tithe and seed offerings. Recently, I received a call to come back to a job I had over four years ago...with a pay raise of more than I asked for! I went to a six-figure income OVERNIGHT! I also started a part time business during this time and for my very first client I gained someone in the fashion world who almost every woman in America would know by name! God has surely shown me that His favor and His blessing are upon His people! It has required a new commitment on my part to study and be a DOER of the Word and prayer, but it is worth every effort! I am so grateful to have found your ministry and all the great teaching and tools you have provided!

“ “

-Robyn-Jane, Queenstown, New Zealand

I happened by ‘chance’ to hear Gary speak in Queenstown earlier this year. I was SO impressed by what he said about the Kingdom and I began to understand how the Kingdom and finances work. I bought hours and hours of teaching from garykeesee.com and my husband and I began to listen. We also gave some to our son. We have now sold land to a cash buyer for a fair price. The sale of this land had been held up by various circumstances, and we couldn’t sell it for years. We used the money to pay off some of our business debt. We have also reorganized our finances. They are turning around from draining to gaining! Our son in another city was looking unsuccessfully for work for months and now has received a very good, well-paid part-time job while he studies for his MBA. We’ve also seen God provide for us in some smaller, very specific ways. This is so EXCITING! We have now just sown again and we are believing God for our year of jubilee—total cancellation of all of our debt!

A Force Unseen By Lisa Bevere

Could it be we’ve awakened in this moment? Did the words of this poet and philosopher speak to something unrealized deep within you? When I first read this quote, I was arrested and literally felt my breath catch.

I believe the truest answers to these questions lie deep within each woman and are best played out, not with words, but by how she chooses to live. Serendipities By Anita Renfroe

Last night my husband and I were at dinner with our kids and two grandkids (did I mention BLISS?). We were at a Mexican restaurant that we frequent and they have live music on Sunday nights. Except we’ve never been there on a Sunday night, so when the band came out in their matching mariachi outfits with guitars, a violin, and a piccolo trumpet, our little two-year-old grandson’s eyes got wide with wonder. I was watching him process it all and it was almost as if you could see the reasoning process happening:

1. This is where they serve food. 2. This is not a place where there’s supposed to be a band. 3. But look! There’s a band in the middle of this place. 4. That’s strange. 5. That’s awesome!

And when the band made their way over to our table, my grandson couldn’t believe they were playing just for us. He laughed and clapped and promptly put a tip into the big guitar. Now, that’s pretty much the term ‘serendipity’ in a nutshell—something you never expected that is wonderful. Or, as Webster’s Dictionary puts it “an unexpected pleasure.”

the table of your life. Those moments where many of us react with a very adultlike, “What’s with the noise? I’m trying to enjoy my enchilada here.” Lots of us never even look up from our plate. After all, that’s what happens here every Sunday night. It’s no big deal. I love watching my grandboys experience the world. It’s fresh. It’s wonderfull. That’s how I want to experience life. Not tired, jaded, been-there-done-that. I want to find (discover) and dance (enter in) and clap (celebrate) and tip (give thanks) every single day! Isaiah 43:19 tells us, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
