FAITH LUND:

ARTIST

Abstract and Non-Objective Paintings This is a collection of abstract and non-objective paintings. The technique involves staining the canvas with many layers of color letting the movement of the liquid pigment identify shapes and forms as they evolve naturally. Sometimes as many as 30 layers of color are applied to get a sense of depth, richness, and vibrancy. Due to the large size of the canvas when one views these works peripheral vision is taken up with the painting. This draws the viewer beyond the surface and into the painted action itself.

ABSTRACTIONS

COLOR WOVEN This original painting by Faith Lund uses acrylic washes in creating a large stained canvas. At least 30 layers of paint have been allowed to be carried by a watery surface and evolve into various shapes and forms. As the painting progressed editing choices helped to balance the composition as well as highlight certain areas. The brightness of color plays against the depth of some of the darkest tones. Notice the importance of the edges as they are treated differently in various areas. Due to size the painting takes in one's peripheral vision drawing one into the work. This painting measures 48" W x 60" H unframed. Acrylic $2500

GEOLOGIC ABSTRACTION This original painting by Faith Lund uses many layers of acrylic wash. The inspiration is stratification of earth. Imagine various textures contrasting with each other, movement of rock formations, and smaller shapes waiting to unite with the overall image. Water carrying sediment as the whole is blending as it evolves. The colors used have an organic effect and add a dramatic contrast to the composition. Slivers of edge color drifts in and out. Bright accents create topical reflections. This piece measures 56" W x 34" H unframed Medium: Acrylic Price: $2500

FLOATING This original painting by Faith Lund uses many transparent washes of acrylic to build up the surface. The chosen colors and technique present a floating effect. The application starts pale and translucent. Various forms come to life through intensity, size, and placement. The beauty is realized when one can see through all of the various layers. The painting is finished after adding vivid elliptical shapes that rest or float on the surface. This painting measures 44" W x 48" H unframed Medium: Acrylic Price: $2000

Entry This original painting by Faith Lund using oil and acrylic features a flower lined path leading to an arched entry. Many layers of acrylic wash have been added to create a muted stone surface contrasted both by the texture and the color of the foliage and impending rush of flowers. Drama leads us to the mysterious historical entry. This painting measures 28" W x 38"H unframed. Medium: Acrylic and Oil on Canvas Price: $2000

FOUNTAIN This original painting by Faith Lund is created using acrylic and oil. The subject, fountain, has an old world charm. The stone texture is a nice backdrop to the surrounding fields of flowers in yellows and purples. Vines crawl up the fountain indicating it's age. The contrast between bright color and light as compared to the stone surfaces adds drama. A beautiful old setting comes to mind. This painting measures 34" W x 38" H unframed. Medium: Acrylic and Oil on canvas Price: $1800
