ROMAN FRONTIERS The Antonine Wall in Falkirk

2nd Floor Galleries 20 May – 29 October Admission Free The exhibition illustrates the ability of the Roman army to adapt physical frontiers to wherever they occurred in the Empire. See our full scale representation of the frontier barrier on the Antonine Wall berm, ditch and upcast mound – with the latest understanding of how complex each of these forms of passive defence was. For the very first time, the splendid griffin figurine that provided the crest of a Roman cavalry helmet (found at Polmont) will be on display. We also have the famous Roman whistling lead slingshot from Burnswark plus an exquisitely enamelled terret ring from a chariot at Airth. Check website for Friday guided tours by our archaeologist Geoff Bailey. www.falkirkcommunitytrust.org/heritage
