‘The only thing a woman can own is knowledge’ 1896 – a group of exceptionally gifted young women arrive at Girton College, Cambridge – the first college in Britain to admit women. They study ferociously, they match the men grade for grade, they are the brightest minds in the country but without the right to graduate nobody will ever know they were there. What happens next will change their lives forever but as they battle a tidal wave of prejudice they quickly begin to realise that the greatest challenges of all are the ones within themselves.

14:00 & 19:00 Studio A
Sam, a working-class northern lad, is a Tory researcher working in the office of an education minister. His colleagues know that he's gay, but aware of his career prospects as a possible future MP, he prefers to keep it under wraps, much to the dismay of his Labour opposite number, James, who is trying to keen to have a relationship with him. Has Sam got any chance of rising through the Tory ranks if he comes out of the closet completely? Discovering that he is working in the same office in which Ted Heath originally began his career inspires Sam to research the man and the rumours about his sexuality. Through juxtaposing two careers – Ted Heath's and that of the young, modern Tory researcher – Graham questions whether sexuality matters in today's political world and, if it does, then why. SICRAH: US
12:00 Studio L
13:00 Studio C
Combining classical guitar with film soundtracks and alternative rock, ‘Emilio Ayto sets a high standard to what contemporary guitar music has to offer’ (Treble Magazine Falmouth).
We present Us, an expression of our personal experiences and relationships through movement. Driven to create a space for being an individual, situations occur as a tangle of moods and exchanging energies between people. This forms relationships within the piece which shape our dynamics as a group.
His repertoire, performed as both originals and rearrangements, uses effects pedals and extended guitar techniques to create a sound that is both innovative and unique. Opening with his repertoire of solo material, Emilio’s performance will transition into a duet and then a full seven-piece ensemble.
