NEXUS PERFORMS 7 FEET BELOW

“Only be thou strong and very Courageous”

Examining transparency regarding human emotions, life processes and consolidating bodies together we explore the articulation of the body as if we see through flesh and only see the skeleton. At times you may not be able to define who we are or our representations when we take you on a journey into a different world, our own world. We also want to express the connectivity we attach ourselves to when we are vulnerable and the invisible connection to strangers and people close to us.

This year is 100 years since women gained the right to vote. How much did they have to fight? 1913, London. The militant suffragette movement is at its peak. In the streets and inside Holloway Prison, women of all classes are battling side-by-side for their rights. Defiant and harsh, Lenkiewicz’s play holds nothing back, delivering a heartbreaking and human portrait of women’s struggle. THE UNTRAINED

ELIZA MAY

18:00 The VOID

12:00 Studio K

The Untrained explores the relationship between ‘untrained’ young adults and dance. By placing their movement in a studio setting this four-screen installation piece questions how and why people dance in social situations, such as in clubs, events and raves. Taking inspiration from dance in social situations throughout history The Untrained aims to encourage the audience to question the function and meaning of dance to non-dancers.

Eliza May is a local singer-songwriter from Birmingham. She takes inspiration from artists such as Tori Kelly and Corinne Bailey Rae giving her music an indie pop and acoustic feel. As an upcoming artist, Eliza gigs regularly as a solo artist and with a full band, consisting of Sophie Snelling, Jakob Biddle, Jamie Farnell and Nathan Walter. Eliza recently released her latest single called ‘The Fall’ and the essence of her performance will be based around that concept.

LOZENJA Over time ambient music has become more popular both with in pop and library music. Therefore I have created an album that brings both ambient and library music together. The whole album is based around electronic harp and traditional harp intertwined with synths and drums to bring a classic instrument into the modern day sound, showing that it’s not just an instrument used for love songs and orchestras. I believe this could be the future for modern harpists.
