William Shakespeare was a great British writer. He was born in Stratford, England in April of 1564. He wrote plays for the theatre and he was also an actor. He lived and worked in London. Shakespeare began writing when he was 25 and he wrote thirty-seven plays. His play “Romeo and Juliet” is very famous over the world. He died in Stratford in 23rd April 1616. Most important works of tragedy: “Romeo and Juliet” “Anthony and Cleopatra” “Hamlet” “Julius Caesar” Other important works were: “The Merry Wives of Windsor”, “The market of Venice” and “Pericles”.

Emily Brontë was born in Thornton on 30th July 1818 and died in Haworth on 19th December 1848. She died of tuberculosis. She was an English novelist and poet. She lived two years in Thornton and her family travelled to Haworth. His mother died on September 21st , 1821. In 1838, Emily started to work as governess at Law Hill School. In 1846, Charlotte, her sister, discovered accidentally the book that Emily had written. In 1847 was published her only novel “Wuthering Heights”.

Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born on May 22 nd, 1859, in Edinburgh, Scotland. From 1876 to 1881, he studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh. In June 1882, he moved to Portsmouth. He worked in a clinic. At first, he was fine with it and he began writing stories. His first work was “A study in Scarlet” in which first appeared Sherlock Holmes, a detective named Joseph Bell. While he was living in Portsmouth, he played rugby professionally in Portsmouth Association Football Club. In 1885, he married with Louisa Hawkins. She suffered tuberculosis and she died on 4 July, 1906. With her he had two children, Mary Louise and Alleyne Kingsley. A year later, he married with Jean Leckie. With Jean he had three children, Jean Lena Annette, Denis Percy Stewart and Adrian Malcolm. th
In 1891, he moved to London to practice as an ophthalmologist. In November of his year, he said to his mother that he wanted “to kill” Sherlock Holmes because he could not invent anything more. But his mother said:”People are not going to take good way”. Then he decided make historical novels. He died on July 7th 1930 with seventy-one years of a heart attack in Crowborough (England).

Lewis Carroll This is Lewis Carroll
Lewis Carroll is the nickname that Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a British writer, used for sing his books. He was born in Daresbury, Cheshire, 27th of January of 1832 and he died in Guilford, Surrey, 14 th of January 1898. He had some different works: man in holy orders, mathematical, photographer and, of course, writer. He wrote books very famous, for example: -“Alice´s Adventures in Woderland”. -“Through the Looking-Glass”. -“The Hunting of the Snark”. -“Sylvie and Bruno”.

LORD BYRON George Gordon Byron was born on 22nd

London, England. He was born with a small deformity in his right foot.

He
married Anne Isabella Milbanke. He had two daughters, Augusta Ada Byron King and Clara Alegra. His daughter Ada King contributed to the invention of the Analytical Engine with Charles Babbage. He was a very good writer, some of his books are: “Don Juan”, “The adventures of Childe Marold”, “Lara”, “Manfred”, “The Bridge of Abydos”, “The Corsair”... In 1809 he travelled to Spain and he stayed there for 2 years, he also travelled to Portugal, Albania, Malta and Greece. He died of malaria in Missolonghi, Greece 19th April, 1824.

Oscar Wilde Oscar Wilde was born 16th October 1854
in Dublin,
Ireland. He was studying in his house until 9 years old, but later he started to study the classical poets and he won ``Gold Medal of Berkeley”. He worked as writer and poet. Oscar was accused of serious incidences. He had two children but his wife took away them. He travelled to Italy, Greece, France... He died in Paris, France, 30th November 1900. Works: -“Ravenna”. -“The Sphinx”. -“The happy prince and other stories”. -“The selfish egoist”. -“The picture of Dorian Gray”.
