Heexplainedthattheywereinitiallyattractedtothenursery because,WestHouseoffered extremelyflexiblehours thatsuited hisworkpatterns.

Thisisaproblemwithsomethingcalledinteroceptionanditcan beworkedonandimprovedbyanexperiencedandqualified therapist.
Whatisinteroception?
Interoceptionisbetterknownasourbody’sabilitytounderstand messagesfromourinternalorgans.Thisincludesthesense thatwefeelhungryorthirsty.Ignoringornotunderstanding thesefeelingscancauseallsortsofproblems.Forexample,not understandingwhenyourbladderisfullcanleadtoaccidents.

Interoceptionispartofsomethinglargercalledneuroception, whichisourresponsetoallsensorytriggers,bothinternaland external.Asitincludesourbody’ssignalsandthosearound us,suchasdifferentsensationsandnoises,itplaysahuge partinhowweunderstandifwearesafeornot.Forexample, neuroceptionisresponsibleforhowweinterpretthetonesof others’voices:whethertheyseemgentleandfriendly,orangry andthreatening.
