Out of school activities offer your child the opportunity to try their hand at something new, develop an existing interest, have fun, get exercise and to socialise and make friends outside of school.
Although my kids didn’t manage to stick at a single one of the MANY activities they tried out during or before Primary age I like to think that each played a part in helping shape them into the awesome beings that they now are! Be led by your child’s interests when choosing an activity. If they enjoy doing something at home, they are more likely to commit to a regular class. Whatever their age, trying a new activity encourages a child to be adventurous and learn new skills.

House of Jack
House of Jack is a dance studio based in Leith (Ocean Terminal), focussing on street and performance dance styles including hip hop, breaking (breakdance) and musical theatre dance. Edinburgh Young Musicians
The aim of Edinburgh Young Musicians (EYM) is to nurture and develop each pupil's innate musicianship, enabling them to enjoy music and realise their individual musical potential, with the understanding that the better you do something, the more satisfaction and pleasure you will gain from it. The youngest classes are open to children with no musical experience. Portobello Music School
Now in their 17th year, Portobello Music School is excited to continue their in-person classes at Edinburgh College’s Milton Road Campus on the outskirts of Portobello. Although most of their beginner Group Instrumental Classes are full, they still have a few instrumental spaces in flute, clarinet and guitar, and are still taking enrolments for their Preschool to Primary 2 Creative Music Classes. Edinburgh Dance Academy

Ceilidhkids
Ceilidhkids runs family Scottish dancing sessions on an approximately monthly basis in various venues around Edinburgh.
