Also, families joining in July will receive 25% off their first full month of tuition at participating centres, so now is a great time to join if you haven’t already! As Explore members, children work with tutors who are great educational role models, enthusiastic about learning and fantastic motivators. Fun French classes for 3-6 year olds in Farnham and Frimley Research has shown that children have a natural ability to learn languages much more easily at a young age. They are able to pick up the sounds and store them in the brain in a way which is lost as they get older. To make the most of this window of opportunity Alouette has designed a learning programme for 3 to 6 year olds where French is taught with stimulating and engaging activities. Classes are taught in a fun, relaxed atmosphere using a progressive method. Accompanying adults are welcome to join in. Alouette teacher, Liz Lavender, is a well-qualified language expert with many years of experience in education. Originally from Paris, she speaks with a native tongue and children learn and reproduce authentic sounds, gradually acquiring the French language with great ease. Sessions are held on Wednesdays from 4.30-5.15pm at Frimley Green Methodist’s Hall, GU16 6HF and Thursdays from 4.30-5.15pm at 40 Degreez, Farnham, GU9 7UD. Each session costs £6.50 payable termly. Sibling discount available. For more information, please call Liz on 07759 812 016 email: alouetteclub@yahoo.com or visit www.alouette-french.com

The new site has many more video clips which can also be viewed on Labels4KidsTV on youtube, and an onscreen design facility for vinyl labels for some packs which will be rolled across all the vinyl labels if it works well for our customers” says Ann-Maree. Quick and Easy Kids Meal Here is a great way to use up leftover sausages and potatoes in a perfect mid week meal for kids - Sausage & Potato Cakes. Ingredients 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil 1 red onion, finely chopped 1tsp hot smoked paprika 350g cooked new potatoes, mashed 25g sliced ham/chorizo cut into strips 2-3 leftover raw/cooked sausages 1 egg, beaten 15ml spoon of polenta/cornmeal Method Pre-heat the oven to 190°C/170°C fan/Gas mark 5. Heat the oil and stir in the onions and paprika. Place the potatoes in a bowl and mash to your desired texture. Add the ham or chorizo or both if you want. If using cooked sausages, dice them and add to the mixture. For raw sausages, break up evenly into the mixture. Add the beaten egg and mix everything together. If it doesn't look like it will hold together, add a spoon of polenta to the mix. Form the mixture into 4-6 cakes and roll in polenta to form a crunchy coating. Place on a baking sheet and cook for 20 minutes. This recipe was provided by Love Food Surrey, see www.LoveFoodSurrey.com for more recipes and hints & tips on how to avoid food waste and to store food correctly.

Family Photography Session

The summer holidays are a great time to have a family photography session as everyone’s relaxed and there’s a bit more time than usual. Lillian Spibey is a professional photographer specialising in family and children’s photography. As a mother, Lillian understands how to relate to children and photographs them having fun. She says, “I think it’s best to photograph a family doing something they love, whether it’s running through a field, making a sand castle, or just getting a cuddle. I believe in photographing a family as the action occurs, to record genuine images of you all having fun together. I love capturing all the giggles, smiles and hugs that happen along the way.” One of Lillian’s great shots is on our front cover! To find out more contact Lillian on 07969 466 572 or email lillian@lillianspibeyphotography.com or visit www.lillianspibeyphotography.com. Nikki Mills is a freelance photographer who is fervently dedicated to family photography. Being a mother of two beloved children herself, photographing children and newborns is her true passion. She was born and raised in South Africa and after various travel adventures she now lives in Woking with her family. Nikki loves to work ‘in the moment’ to invoke and conjure personality and moods within her photography. Working on location, rather than being studio bound, means that Nikki can capture sunlight and can play around with light on the day to create unique, natural photos - whether it be a toddler blowing dandelions or catching bubbles to a family having a picnic. Conveniently Nikki comes to your home so call her around for a cup of tea this summer to discuss your individual requirements. You can contact Nikki on 07753119745 or photo@nikkimills.co.uk or visit www.nikkimills.co.uk

How much food do you throw away? An alarming 75,000 tonnes of uneaten food is being thrown away in Surrey every year. And even though a third is collected and recycled, the cost of dealing with it all adds up to a staggering £6 million a year. That’s the same amount of money it takes for Surrey County Council to fund 630 primary school places, buy a million library books or fix 108,000 potholes.
