Did you know? NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) says that one in 16 people in hospital pick up a nasty disease such as MRSA because someone hasn’t washed their hands. These diseases can be fatal. Hand washing is a very simple task that, when carried out correctly, is one of the most effective ways of preventing the spread of infection. Even hands which appear clean can be carrying germs. ‘‘Experts have determined that washing your hands with hot water and soap for the time it takes to sing a verse of “Happy Birthday” should ensure any germs on your hands are destroyed. So sing while you wash!’’
How to wash your hands Wet your hands thoroughly before applying soap. Vigorously massage all surfaces of both your hands with lather. Remember to pay special attention to the finger tips, thumbs and the area between the fingers as these are all frequently missed. If you wear a ring, remember to wash the area underneath it. Finally, make sure you rinse all the soap off your hands under running water, and then dry your hands thoroughly.

What is Clinical Negligence? Most medical treatment (whether under the NHS or in the private sector) is of a very high standard. There are however times when this is not the case and mistakes do happen. These are rare and unfortunate events, which will often leave families requiring support and financial assistance. If the care is such that it falls below a reasonable standard for that area of medicine then there may be entitlement to compensation, by bringing a claim for clinical negligence. Clinical Negligence claims require the Claimant to prove two separate legal tests: that the healthcare professional failed in their duty of care and that this has caused avoidable harm. If you have concerns about your medical treatment or the treatment of a family member/friend (by a medical professional in the NHS or privately/physiotherapist or dentist) it is sensible to obtain legal advice quickly, as there are strict time limits for bringing a claim.
Generally a claim for clinical negligence must be made within three years from the date of the negligent treatment. If you do not commence court proceedings within the three year period, you may be barred from bringing a claim. There are exceptions to this rule when acting for a child or somebody who lacks capacity or when the date of knowledge is at a later date.
to arrange an oncology referral leading to a delay in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Lamb Brooks have a highly experienced and dedicated team who can assist, if you have concerns about the treatment provided to you or a family member.
Please do not worry about the cost of making a claim, as most claims are handled under a Conditional Fee Agreement (No Win/No Fee).
Over the last few years we have successfully worked on many cases as diverse as the failure of an A & E department to correctly identify and treat a patient’s heart attack, to a GP who failed
At Lamb Brooks our specialist team will speak with you confidentially and free of charge. We will confirm whether you have a potential claim and we can then either help you consider making a complaint about the care and/or act on your behalf.
If you would like to discuss making a claim please contact Jane Lowe on jane.lowe@lambbrooks.com or 01256 305582
Do you think you have a Clinical Negligence Claim? At Lamb Brooks our specialist Clinical Negligence Team can provide advice and support for a negligence claim arising from a variety of different situations:
Failure to diagnose or misdiagnosis

Medical errors

Fruity summer Snowy Strawberries
Snacks
You will need:
This one is super easy and great to get the kids helping in the kitchen. Ideal for summer snacks, they can be kept in the freezer and brought out after a hot day at school.
How to make:
Cut the larger fruit into squares and squeeze some lime or lemon juice over them to prevent them from going brown.
Thin plastic straws
Lemon or lime juice
Wash the strawberries and trim the stalks and leaves off each one. Put some of the Greek yoghurt in a bowl and roll each strawberry in the yoghurt. Lay them on a flat baking tray. When you have covered all the fruit with the yoghurt, place the tray in the freezer on an empty shelf and leave to freeze overnight. You can then take them off the tray and store them in freezer bags until needed. 1 punnet strawberries

Push the straws through the pieces of fruit one at a time – make sure you mix up the colours to make it look extra special. Note: Children who are under four should not be offered whole grapes because of the danger of choking.
Healthy Banana Granola Bars These tasty bars are full of protein thanks to the hidden gems; quinoa and chia seeds.

Pour into the pan and press it down until it is level. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cut into fingers while still warm and leave to cool completely.

Usually filled with tofu, herbs and noodles, they are a great snack and if you can find the rice paper wrappers in a local oriental food supplier, you can not only make those but also these amazing fruity rolls, perfect for lunch boxes. How to make:
How to make:
Fruity sticks
You will need: Rice paper wrappers Mixture of summer fruit; watermelon, strawberries, apple, pear, peach, mango, kiwi fruit etc.
Drizzle lime or lemon juice over the fruit to prevent browning and stir well to combine the fruits together.
Mint leaves (optional) Lime juice
Add a few small or torn mint leaves if your child likes them. Place a small pile of the fruit at the centre of a rice paper wrapper. Roll one side in, then the two ends and finally roll it up. Teach your child to ride a bike
in 7 easy steps Teaching your child to ride a bike has never been easier with these seven simple steps.
Begin with a balance bike
Balance bikes are great because they have no pedals or stabilisers and are much lighter. Because children can use their feet to balance and move themselves along, those as young as two can learn to balance on their own.
Start on flat ground
Always begin to teach your child on flat ground, at a local park or area with no traffic. You can work your way up to small hills.
Teach them to use the brake
Look for safety add-ons
A steering limiter is highly recommended as this will enable your child to keep in the right direction and prevent falls. While you’re looking at safety equipment, it’s worth purchasing bright coloured clothing or safety vests to ensure she is seen by others at night time.
At the age of two and a half to three, children are able to operate a hand brake, as long as it’s gentle enough for their fingers. Begin by showing your child how the brake works and encourage her to practise.
Get an adjustable seat
Wearing a helmet is a must. The sooner your little one gets used to it, the better. We recommend that you shop for a helmet together to ensure your little biker likes it and will therefore wear it.
Upgrade to a bigger bike
Always wear a helmet
Try to choose a bike that has an adjustable seat as this means the bike can be adjusted to suit their height. When your child is on the bike, both feet should be firmly on the ground – not just the toes – and the knees should be slightly bent. When your child has developed enough skill and confidence you can transfer them to a pedal bike without stabilisers.
