Time to get dirty or go to Jail Everyone – Camp Humphreys Outdoor Rec, Discover Seoul in the CAC, BOSS and ITT at Osan AB – converge on the city of Boryeong this Saturday (July 14) for the opening of the annual Boryeong Mud Festival – a place where you either get dirty or end up in the Mud Jail. The Youth Center (Middle School & Teens) will visit Boryeong on July 17, and Outdoor Rec, Discover Seoul and ITT also have another trip planned for July 21. Long known for its Mud Beauty products, the small city has built the Mud Festival into an international event that draws people from all over the world for the chance to wrestle in the mud pool, go down the mud slide or join one of the many mud fights where the bottom line is “get dirty.” Whichever agency you pick for your trip, make sure to take Korean won for food, souvenirs and activities, a towel, a change of clothes and your camera. Call Outdoor Rec (753-3013), Discover Seoul (753-8059), BOSS (753-8970) or ITT (7844254) for details and reservations. If you want to learn more about the Boryeong Mud Festival, go to www.mudfestival.or.kr.

Paintball Tournament Saturday You, too, can get harmlessly shot in the head by an orange paintball at the new All-Weather Pappy’s Paintball Range this Saturday (July 14) and next Saturday (July 21). This week it’s a Squad Assault while next week is Open Play. The range is located off the Perimeter Road just west of Zoeckler Station and is covered in field turf – the same artificial surface found on Humphreys Sports Fields. Cost for either Saturday is $25 per person which includes your helmet, gun and 500 paintball rounds. You can enter Saturday’s tournament as an Individual or 5-person squad. Play starts at 1100 and is expected to last until at least 1600. Next Saturday’s Open Play is scheduled for 1400-1700. If you plan to bring a group or if a Unit wants to schedule play, please call Outdoor Rec at 753-3013 (031-690-3013) and we will accommodate you.

News of note … MOMMIE & ME TEA – The annual Mommie & Me Tea scheduled for this Saturday from 1400-1600 at Tommy D’s is SOLD OUT but names are still being taken for a waiting list in case anyone cancels. Please send your name and contact information to lisa.j.hogue.naf@mail.mil KING OF THE GRILL – Entries are now being accepted for the annual King of the Grill Contest scheduled for Saturday, Aug 4 at the Alaska Mining Co. parking lot. Entry deadline is July 27. See the July issue of Happenings magazine (page 15) for entry details and rules or call 754-3101 (031-619-3101). WIN A VACATION -- Find your perfect match when you play the “Great Getaways” game at www.AFRCresorts.com. Snow & Santa on the way! Santa is cutting short his Caribbean vacation to come to Camp Humphreys Saturday, July 21, for the annual Christmas in July Celebration. And, of course, with Santa coming there has to be Snow! Yes, that’s right! It’s going to Snow at the Alaska Mining Co. Santa and the Snow are scheduled to arrive at 1030. Santa will pose for free photos of the Kids and Families and accept early Christmas lists from 1030-1300. By the way: If it doesn’t snow, the Breakfast Buffet will be free.
