Join your friends and neighbors as Camp Humphreys Celebrates America’s Birthday with the Let Freedom Ring Festival at Soldiers Field Wednesday, July 4. Activities kick off with the Firecracker Run & Walk at the Super Gym Sky Bridge, with check-in at 0730 and the start of the race at 0830. Participants have their choice of a 5K Run, 5K Walk or 10K Run. If you haven’t done so already, please call 753-8031 (031-6908031) to pre-register. The Firecracker 1-Pitch Softball Tournament starts at 0900 at Soldier Field, with a Women’s Softball Exhibition Game at 1130. Finals of the 1-Pitch are scheduled for 1400. The Let Freedom Ring Festival itself starts at 1500 at Soldier Field and will include Food, Games, Eating Contests (sponsored by Navy Federal Credit Union), Blow-ups, Special Kid’s Activities and live entertainment including Auto Reverse and the AFE Rock’n Roll Band Anchored. The Gala Fireworks Show is scheduled for dark. People are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs but asked to please leave their dogs at home. No dogs are allowed inside Soldier Field because of the artificial turf. In case of inclement weather, watch the Humphreys and Marketing Facebook pages for updates. If the weather is severe, activities will switch to Thursday, July 5.

News of note … MOMMIE & ME TEA – The annual Mommie & Me Tea is set for Tommy D’s Saturday, July 14, from 1400-1600. This is a special event for Mothers, Daughters & Their Dolls. Cost is $10 for Mom with daughters and dolls free. Space is limited, so please make your reservations at lisa.hogue.1@us.army.mil. KING OF THE GRILL – Entries are now being accepted for the annual King of the Grill Contest scheduled for Saturday, Aug 4 at the Alaska Mining Co. parking lot. Entry deadline is July 27. SUMMER READING PROGRAM – A new Summer Reading program for children in grades K-3 is being held Fridays from 1000-1130 at the Post Library. The program is called Reading is Delicious and will continue meeting on Fridays through July 27. Call 753-8817 (031-690-8817) for further details. YEOSU EXPO – Discover Seoul, temporarily located in the Humphreys Lodge Business Center, has a limited number of tickets available to the Yeosu Expo on Friday, July 27. Unfortunately, people will have to find their own way to Seoul. The cost is $125 for adults and $95 for children and includes round-trip Bullet Train, Entrance and an English-Speaking Guide. Call 753-8059 (031-690-8059) for details. All Family & MWR Facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 5 for Training & Organization Day. This includes the Child Development Center, Gymnasiums, Alaska Mining Co. and Army Community Service (ACS). The only exceptions are Splish & Splash Water Park & Augusta West Miniature Golf which will have normal holiday operational hours (1100-2000). In addition, Tommy D’s will open at 1800
