WEEKLY Food Handlers’ courses Wednesday at Super Gym, CPX Food Handlers’ classes designed specifically for individuals working fund-raising booths that handle food will be held Wednesday, April 25, at the Super Gym and the CPX Control Building Conference Room. English-language classes are schedule for 0900-1100, 1300-1500 and 1800-2000 at the Super Gym and a Koreanlanguage class at the CPX Gate from 1300-1500. Pre-Registration is requested. Please send the desired session, Name, Unit, Cell phone number and E-Mail address to Michael.mooney2@us.army.mil. There is a limit of 60 people per class, and spaces are being filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. As of press time, the evening session is almost full but there is plenty of room for the 1300-1500 classes. This training will certify individuals for one year. According to Army regulations, food handlers’ certificates are required for individuals cooking, handling or serving food at activities such as SpringFest, Unit Organization Days and Bake Sales. These classes will be specifically geared toward fundraising activities and are not designed for food service workers. That is a different, 8-hour course. The Child Development Center will be available for hourly Child Care during the morning and afternoon sessions. Register now for SpringFest booths Family Readiness Groups, Private Organizations, Units or Youth Groups who want to operate Fund Raising Booths at this year’s SpringFest should send their contact information to Michael.mooney2@us.army.mil as soon as possible. Please include the Name of the Organization and E-Mail addresses and cell phone numbers for two contacts. There are about 20 spots available for SpringFest, which will be held at Independence Park Saturday, May 12, from 1200-2000. Gates will be open to our Korean neighbors. Activities will include entertainment, special activities for the kids, games and contests. Register your organization now.

Grand Park Zoo next CYSS Field Trip The Seoul Grand Park Zoo, rated as one of the Top 10 Zoos in the world, will be the destination for this month’s Family Field Trip on Saturday, May 19. As usual, CYSS will provide free round-trip transportation for Families. There are only 68 seats, and they are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Families are responsible for entrance fee, food and souvenirs. The bus will leave the Child Development Center at 0800 and return between 1630-1700 – depending on traffic. CAC closing in May for Geothermal Installation

News of note …

The Camp Humphreys Community Activity Center will be closed from May through early June for the installation of the new Geothermal system. As a result, the following changes will be made: The BOSS Program will move to the Super Gym administrative area (753-8970). The Recreation Center’s primary phone number (7538825) will be routed to Outdoor Recreation. The Incheon Shuttle will pick up in front of the Camp Humphreys Lodge. Cash Reservations will be taken at the Lodge front counter; Credit Card Sales at Outdoor Recreation (Bldg 1044) or via phone 753-3013. Discover Seoul is being relocated to the Lodge Business Center. They will retain their current phone numbers. The Super Gym has a TV viewing room. Free Wireless internet is available at the Super Gym, Strike Zone Bowling Center, Tommy D’s and the Alaska Mining Co. Free computers are also available at the Library. The monthly Digital Photography Class will be moved to the Super Gym. The following programs will not be offered during the closure – Arts & Crafts, LeCAC Café, Music Rooms, Game rooms and the CAC Ballroom INTRAMURAL SOFTBALL Register your Unit-Level team for the upcoming Intramural Softball Season by April 24. PETFEST – Do you look like your dog (or visa versa)? You could win a prize at the PetFest Look Alike Contest being held as part of the annual event scheduled for May 5 in the area of the Vet Clinic. Other contests will include tricks, a 1-K Walk and lots of information about taking care of your dog or cat. Call Outdoor Rec at 753-3013 (031-690-3013) for further details. MOTHER-SON DANCE – The Mother-Son Dance originally scheduled for Saturday, May 12 at Tommy D’s, will be delayed until June because of the SpringFest celebration. Watch for further updates. BOSS BEACH BLAST – Make your reservations for the June 15-17 BOSS Beach Blast at the Community Activity Center. Cost is $150 per person. Call 753-8825 (031-690-8825) for further details. BEST VOCALS AT THE HUMP -- Tommy D’s seven week Best Vocals at the Hump Contest continues this Wednesday at 2000 and concludes May 16. Weekly winners receive prizes and advance to the finals where first prize is a $150 AAFES Gift Card. The contest is open to everyone except previous Operation Rising Star winners. Call 753-7532/8191. BIGGEST LOSERS is reaching the home-stretch with Final Weigh-in no later than Sunday, May 13, and the Awards Ceremony scheduled for 1100 Saturday, May 19, to kick off the Army in Korea Aerobithon. Winners in both the Team and Individual competition will be determined by the percentage of weight lost between the date of entry and their final weighin.
