Strong Beginnings Strong Beginnings is a full or part day program designed to build up to Kindergarden etiquette and focus on academic excellence which will help children transition to Kindergarden. Using the building blocks children already have, Strong Beginnings refines their skills. This program is designed for 4 and 5 year olds and runs from 900 to 1300 each day.
Read to your Children For young children, books that rhyme and have rhythm are excellent. Be sure to read Mother Goose Rhymes often. You will find your child learning the words or words that SOUND like those from the book, and saying them back to you. You might be tired of reading that book for the 50th time but your child loves to spend time with you this way. Books with few words and bright pictures are also great to keep his/her attention. Elaborate on other things on the page too.

ACS adds new classes Army Community Service (ACS) is adding new language and cultural classes to its lineup, and is revamping the popular Saturday Wonder Wheels program to encompass more than Seoul. “We are always looking for ways to better serve the community," said ACS Director Suzanne James, “and we are constantly asking Soldiers and Family members alike what we can do to better meet their needs. We think the new lineup will achieve that goal.” The name Wonder Wheels has been changed to the longer and more descriptive “Learning About Korea and Public Transportation.” Participants will still meet at the BBQ Pavilion next to the walk-thru gate and will still start their adventure on the No. 20 bus to Pyeongtaek. Previous Wonder Wheels participants took the bus to the subway station where they traveled to Seoul for shopping. Under the revamped program, the destination could be Seoul, the Korean Folk Village in Yongin, Pyeongtaek Harbor or the Suwon Fortress. Participants should meet at the Pavilion by 0900, dress for the weather and bring about 20,000 won for transportation and more for lunch and souvenirs. Trips will end about 1400. Two other expanded programs deal with language – Korean employees and Family members who want to improve their English and Soldiers, Civilians and Family Members who want to Learn Korean. Basic English is offered from 1130-1230 Monday and Tuesday at the Family Readiness Center (across from the Child Development Center), while Advanced English is offered from 1130-1230 every Friday, also at the Readiness Center. Basic Korean classes are held at ACS (Bldg 311 behind the Library and Education Center) from 1800-1930 every Tuesday, with Advanced Korea every Thursday from 1800-1930 every Thursday at ACS.
