Community Briefings Overflowing Library
Boys and Girls Club Day for Kids, Postponed
The Wee Tot group has been having story hour at the Humphreys Library for a few years. As the population on post has grown so has the popularity of this great program. Reading to the children has been proven to be an invaluable educational tool for young children and also simply an enjoyable time for parents and kids. Recently our Librarian, Darrel Hoerle, has come across a conundrum, story time is overflowing. September 15, 57 parents and children crammed into the Children's Room at the Library to enjoy Story Hour! As our community continues to grow it's nice to know that there is value placed on reading programs. David Hourle's suggestion... "Perhapes our new building plan should include plans for one or more branch libraries". Even though WeeTot Story hour might be cozy, come and enjoy the riches contained within our Post Library.
Mark your calendar, the 16th of October will hold a day of fun for kids in our community. Annually the Boys and Girls Club of America sponsors Day for Kids. To include games, food and festivities for kids of all ages. This year the event will be held at the Zoeckler sports field from 1400 - 1700. If you thought you missed a great event for the kids on September 25, you now have another chance to enjoy the festivities.

Retro-Reflective Technology - Be Seen October is one of the greatest months for children; school is back in full swing, soccer season, temperatures are comfortable, and Halloween is around the corner. One of the biggest concerns with Halloween is the safety of children. Being seen at night is one of the best ways to stay safe whileTrick or Treating. Retro-Reflective Technology has been around for years onour roadways, signs, shoes, clothes, etc. This technology is quite simple; reflect light back to the source with minimum scattering of light. The reflection is accomplished with small prisms, beads, or cubes in the reflective material directing the light back at the source. Make sure you have some of this technology available and have a safe and Happy Halloween this year by being seen.

Especially with the holidays mere weeks away. Don't wait for people to find you, let people know you have the skills they require.
Time to Support the Team So Osan HS Football hasn't started out the season in the best way, NOW is the time to get out and show your support! Don your Skyblue, Black and White, paint your faces, get loud. October 15 and 29 the CYS is taking a bus to the Osan Games. the 15th Osan Plays against Daegue and the 29 against Seoul American. Let's show them we've got the power of spirit! The Bus will leave the Teen Center Parking lot at 1700, returning after the game. Cost is $5, permission slips are available at the Teen Center
Feel the Power of Power Hour If you haven't been to Power Hour, you should consider it. Power Hour is the perfect moment to finish homework, maybe get help with something you didn't understand, finish a project or anything else, when the school day just got away from you. Best of all, the rest of the day is YOURS, no more worries that after dinner you have to still trudge through homework instead of playing some Wii, or hanging out with some friends, any of the multitude of things you would rather do than homework... It's the Power of Power Hour that will put your mind at ease for the rest of the day.
Youth Advisory Council If you are in grades 6-12, CYS is looking for you! Become a part of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC). This Group is important to bring youth and the community together, make changes and tend to the needs of teens. The Youth Advisory Council members also sponsor new youth coming into the garrison, showing the youth everything USAGHumphreys has to offer. Be proactive in your community, Join the Youth Advisory Council. For more information contact Joseph Jacks at 753-8274 or email at Joseph.jacks@korea.army.mil
