SpringFest booth deadline May 15 There’s still room for additional Family Readiness Groups, Units and Private Organizations to operate a fund-raising booth at SpringFest on May 28, but the final opportunity to reserve a booth is Sunday, May 15. SpringFest will be held Saturday, May 28, with the gates open to our Korean neighbors from 1200-2200. Activities will include professional U.S. and Korean entertainment, blow-up games, a free day of swimming at Splish & Splash, an Alaska Mining Co. T-Bone Steak Special, a bowling special and lots of food and games offered by FRGs, Units and Private Organizations. Food to be offered at booths already registered includes hamburgers and hot dogs, turkey legs, ribs, walking tacos, catfish, snow cones, cotton candy, chili dogs, nachos, Belgium waffles, funnel cakes and more. Several organizations are offering games, and the military police will be offering a Speed Ball booth where you can test your skill throwing a baseball or kicking a soccer ball. In addition, Family & MWR will host a Food Handler’s Certification Course at the Community Activity Center from 1300-1500 Tuesday. Anyone operating a food booth must have a certified food handler working the booth. The course is free and will provide a certificate that can be used for SpringFest and other fund-raising activities. Contact Mooney at 754-8257 for additional details.

Today is Buddha’s Birthday Local temples open, parade in town tonight Buddha’s Birthday falls on May 10 this year, and is a great opportunity for Americans to experience Korean culture up close and personal. Local temples are decorated with beautiful tapestries, flowers and lanterns, and welcome U.S. visitors with food and drink. The temple across from Rainbow Apartments will parade through Anjung-ri about 1900 today and Americans are welcome to join.

High School Soccer here all next week Nine American and Foreign high school teams from throughout Asia will take to the field at Independence Park and Soldier Field starting Monday, May 16, as Osan High School and Camp Humphreys partner to host the Far East Division II (Small School) Boy’s Soccer Tournament. In addition to Osan, Daegu American, Uijongbu Christmas, Yongsan International and Kent International from Korea are in the field with schools from Japan. Osan plays its first two game at 0900 and 1200 Monday at Independence Park.
