Humphrey pays homage to its unpaid workforce You find them everywhere you look at Camp Humphreys – an unpaid workforce that saves the installation thousands of dollars and is the literal heartbeat of the Community. And all of them will be honored Friday night at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony at the Community Activity Center. “Volunteers are what allows Camp Humphreys to be such a great place to live, work and play,” said Army Community Service Volunteer Coordinator Denise Chappell. “They make things happen. “You find them serving as youth coaches and mentors, Sunday school teachers, teachers aides, instructors, administrative assistants, thrift shop workers, Boy and Girl Scout leaders, Family Readiness Group leaders, at Community Festivals and on volunteer teams that assist the local community. They are our behind-the-scenes force that always answers the call when needed.” Friday’s activities start with a Social from 1900-1930, followed by a special production by the Camp Humphreys Theatre Group – a new volunteer group of men, women and children who brought Community Theatre back to Camp Humphreys this year. Dress is Business Casual. Volunteers of the Year in six categories – Active Duty, KATUSA, Family Member, Youth, Retiree and Unit – will be named, but the ceremony is designed to honor all Camp Humphreys Volunteers. “We want all Community volunteers to come for an evening of Fun & Thanks,” Chappell said. “All Volunteers are very important to us, and this is your night to be saluted.”
