Parent's Date Night Friday, August 13 1830-2230 You might not even NEED a date night, things might be "peachy-keen". It is at this moment that you need to have a date night. Enjoy the good times too. Don't wait for a problem to arise before you decide, "uff we NEED a date night"... Thanks to the Army Family Covenant, once a quarter, parents can enjoy a Date Night with child care being FREE of charge at the CDC. All children must be registered with Child, Youth and School Services to participate. Make reservations @ 753-8601 before the August 10 deadline.
CDC Picnic The CDC will be hosting a picnic on Friday, August 13 at 1100. Everyone is welcome to join their children. Parents are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on. If you know you won't be able to make it in for lunch send a blanket with your child. Colors will be red, white and blue. Steal away from work and enjoy a little time with your child (children) and take in a few of the last days of summer.
Helping young Children Start School A new school year can make young children nervous, especially if they are entering a new environment. Whether starting preschool, Kindergarten or 1st grade, some children may worry about the new setting and the new experience. There are things parents and families cn do to help their children make a successfull transition. D Discuss changes that will be taking place. Together you can make a chart illustrated with Photos or pictures. D Encourage your child to describe how he or she feels about starting a new program. Try to ease fears regarding feelings of uncertainty. Talking about it will begin to put your child more at ease. D Try to arrange a visit to the school, classroom and teachers. D Work into the new schedule of bedtime and wake up time. D Let your child be involved in laying out clothes, backpack and supplies for the first day. D Try to arrange a playdate or get together with someone from class. Be positive and excited about the new experiences. Play an active part in creating a fun and exciting new situation for your child.

August Technology Tip
We all want to go and help the environment. Here are a couple simple tips to save energy, dollars and do your part in going green. Think about all the devices in your home that are plugged into an electrical outlet. How many of those devices can be unplugged until they are actually used? Devices such as game consoles, computers, chargers and even kitchen appliances can be plugged in only for the amount of time they are used instead of 24/7. Another way to save is with batteries. Batteries that are too weak to power devices will normally have sufficient amount of life left to power a remote control for several months. Also, removal of batteries from devices that are not being used can help prevent unnecessary drainage and corrosion. Another tip is to store batteries in the refrigerator. Studies have shown that warmer tempuratures cause batteries to drain. Rechargable batteries are a great option for less demanding devices, be sure to recharge before they die for best results.

We’re a Christian family in a modern world. Our faith has been tested throughout the years, but our love for the Lord keeps us united. My wife and I come from different cultural backgrounds so that has kept things interesting. We do turn some heads over here in Korea because it’s not every day you see a Korean man with an American woman (usually the other way around). We have two beautiful children. Both who love the attention they grab from anyone who walks by. Our son Chase started kindergarten this last year and also plays soccer in the youth services. Taylor has no idea she is just a little tiny girl so she tends to follow her big brother and tries to do what he does. But being in the Camp Humphreys’ Play Group has given her the chance to be around children her own age.
