A
sia is renowned for having some of the best dive spots in the world. Some of these dives include World War I and World War II wreck dives off the coast of Guam, spotting Whale Sharks near Surin Islands, Thailand, cruising past massive amounts of Barracuda at Barracuda Point, Sipadan Island, Malaysia, and exploring 300 different types of coral in Palawan, Philippines to name a few. Scuba diving is an activity which people from all walks of life enjoy internationally. Once one has become certified, the certification lasts a life time and a chance to meet interesting and unique people. To accommodate this international hobby, there are tour companies which specialize in trips designed around scuba diving and snorkeling, and for extreme enthusiasts a chance to make a career in scuba diving. USAGY FMWR is proud to announce that they’re offering a new scuba certification course on USAG Yongsan. The course is a two week program which includes one week of classroom and swimming pool instruction and the second weekend is a visit to the East Coast for an ocean dive. The course will be offered by Aquatic Frontier. Aquatic Frontier offers all PADI courses from Junior

Open Water to Assistant Instructor, which is led by a staff of Open Water Instructors and Master Instructor. The class will sustain all precautionary measures to emphasize safety while ensuring all divers have an enjoyable and fun-filled experience. First Lieutenant Smith from Camp Casey recently completed the course with Aquatic Frontier and when asked what he’d like to share about his experience, he stated, “The instructor was very knowledgeable. The overall cost for me was $500 which was not bad, considering the price included: the certification, two lunches, dinner, and transportation. The cost also includes my purchase of a hotel room.” If you intend on registering, make sure to set aside two weekends for the course. Registration for the course can be made at the Moyer Outdoor Recreation Center (see page 5 for information).
