WEEKLY Free Child Care for Newcomer’s Briefings Spouses attending the Tuesday Newcomer’s Briefing at the Super Gym can now receive 5 free hours of Child Care at the Child Development Center (CDC). In order to get the free child care, Parents must register their children at Parent Central in Bldg 570 (753-3413 or 753-5973 – 031-690-3413/5973). After the child is registered, they then need to call the CDC (7537619) and make a reservation for 0730-1230 on the day of the Newcomer’s Briefing. Attend the Newcomer’s Briefing (0830-1200). At the end of the Briefing, parents can pick up their Free Child Care coupon from the ACS Relocation staffer. They then take that coupon to the CDC to get their child no later than 1230.

Community Activity Center scheduled to reopen Tuesday, June 19 The Camp Humphreys Community Activity Center is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, June 19, with some new hours and a new heating and cooling system powered by Geothermal energy. CAC personnel hope to start moving back into the center this week in preparation for the reopening. There will be a formal Reopening Ceremony on June 29 as part of the annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. The CAC is one of the first buildings in the Army to be converted to Geothermal. It is expected to save Camp Humphreys thousands of dollars in energy costs and also provide more balanced heating and cooling.

News of note … TRIATHLON – Reservations are now being accepted for the Summer Triathlon scheduled for Splish & Splash Water Park on Saturday, June 23. This is an Individual or Team event with a 400meter Swim, 20K Bike Ride and 5K Run. Register at any gym or by calling 753-8031 (031-690-8031).

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION – The annual Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony is scheduled for the Camp Humphreys Community Activity Center on Friday, June 29. All Community Volunteers will be recognized, along with the Volunteers of the Year. The American Women’s Club Thrift Shop Association (AWCTSA) is helping sponsor this year’s event.

YEOSU EXPO – Discover Seoul, temporarily located in the Humphreys Lodge Business Center, has a limited number of SUMMER READING PROGRAM – A new Summer Reading tickets available to the Yeosu Expo on Saturday, July 28. program for children in grades K-3 will start Friday, June 22 from1000-1130 at the Post Library.
