The Evercade continue to impress with their fourth arcade cartridge - Atari Arcade 1. There are some great classic arcade video games on the Atari Arcade 1 cartridge. The thirteen games on the Atari Arcade 1 cartridge are Asteroids Deluxe, Canyon Bomber, Centipede, Crystal Castle, Liberator, Lunar Lander, Millipede, Missile Command, Night Driver, Pong, Skydiver, Super Breakout and Warlords. Families can get all kinds of fun out of the Atari Arcade 1 cartridge. It has been decades since I played some of these video games. Other games I never even saw in the arcades because of my age when they were released.

I do question the collision detection on games like Pong and Super Breakout. The paddle size for Super Breakout is really tiny. The AI is really tough in games like Warlords, and Pong. I struggled with the controls in Skydiver. Thankfully Atari Arcade 1 comes with a manual where the controls are specified. I just had issues with things like the chute not always deploying the first time I hit the button. I usually was able to get my guy on the ground in Skydiver and had fun playing that game.

The stand out game for me on the Atari Arcade 1 is Crystal Castles. Think of it like Pac-Man where we must get all of the pellets eaten up. The different mazes and enemies make that game a blast and I really like the visual layout of the screen. I remember it was impressive at the time. Atari Arcade 1 reminds me how cool it was for its era. Night Driver is a decent driving video game for the era. The tracks can be challenging at times. The old first person racing games from that era will either irritate or bring a smile.

Millipede and Centipede are very similar games. They look much better in color and the graphics from the arcade. The home versions of those games do not even come close to what is in Atari Arcade 1. The arcades were always better in that video game era. Lunar Lander is one of those games I love to try and try again. Sadly I failed every single time I played Lunar Lander on the Atari Arcade 1 cartridge. Something about that game is really hard. Missile Command is the classic that retro gamers know and love.

There is some violent content in many of the games within Atari Arcade 1. I love the background graphics in Asteroids Deluxe. The graphics in these old arcade video games do not stand up to current video games. For me Atari Arcade 1 is one of those history based video games where families can learn about the early history of the video game industry. Canyon Bomber can require some strategy to get the highest score. I hope there are plenty more cool arcade titles that come to the Evercade. Atari Arcade 1 shows what can be released. - Paul

We played WCW Backstage Assault in one of our retro video game live streams recently. That piece of the live stream was transformed into a video for our video sites. By the time this review is online the video for WCW Backstage Assault should be on our website. We were not impressed with WCW Backstage Assault on the Nintendo 64. WCW Backstage Assault can also be found on the original Playstation.

I understand that WCW Backstage Assault is an older game on the Nintendo 64 and Playstation. This game still looks really bad. The character models are plain ugly. I know there are better looking games from this era. The issues families will have with WCW Backstage Assault are lack of attire, enticement to lust, bad language, violence, and more. The focus on WCW Backstage Assault is to fight in different areas and to use some of the weapons.

The controls in WCW Backstage Assault are a bit confusing to figure out at first. We had a variety of issues within WCW Backstage Assault like learning how to pin. The collision detection within WCW Backstage Assault is extremely suspect. Who would hit when both are swinging a weapon seemed entirely random. Or one animation would start and then skip into the other one. WCW Backstage Assault is a complete mess in so many regards.

WCW Backstage Assault is light on wrestlers and light on modes. There are numerous characters that can be unlocked within WCW Backstage Assault. If you are not familiar with WCW from that era then you may not know many of the unlockable characters within WCW Backstage Assault. I felt like WCW Backstage Assault received the fingerpoke of doom in the development stages. I am not too sure what they were going for.

If you thought only new wrestling video games were bad then you need to check out WCW Backstage Assault. This game will show you that doing the Monday Night Wars there were bad wrestling games too. For me WCW Backstage Assault is a piece of history. There have been bad video games released in the physical copy format. Sure it is easier for bad games to make it to market as digital downloads. Bad video games have been with us for some time now. - Paul
