Temper Temper • Dark Chocolate Truffles
Dark Chocolate Truffles Recipe by Temper Temper Chocolate These truffles are quick and easy to make & will make a great gift. Nothing special needed. No tempering required either. Only takes one pair of hands, but handy to have someone to help at the end when rolling the truffles in Cocoa Powder. A great way to spend some time with the kids. Once they know how easy it is to make, you might find you have more than you can eat!
Ingredients:
500g dark chocolate (good quality!) 150ml single cream Cocoa powder to dust
Utensils:
Mixing Bowl Bowl for Cocoa Powder Wooden spoon Spatula Greaseproof Paper Teaspoon or Fork
Method:
1. Pop 300g chocolate in a microwavable bowl & melt the chocolate, be patient, and work slowly. One minute in your microwave on medium / low, stir, 30 seconds, another 30 seconds & stir, etc, etc until completely melted. 2. Whilst stirring the melted chocolate (using the wooden spoon), pour the cream into the melted chocolate (keep stirring !). This is not a roux – do not add a little and stir, little and stir. Pour continually whilst stirring. 3. The mix should be reasonably firm – if not, place the bowl in the freezer for 5 minutes. 4. Using a teaspoon, scoop some mix and roll into a ball (truffle size) and place onto the greaseproof paper. Keep doing this until the mix has all been used. If the mix gets too sticky, just pop it back into the freezer for a bit. 5. Place all of the balls on a tray and pop them into the fridge or freezer to harden for 5/10 minutes. 6. Melt the remaining chocolate as before. 7. Roll each of the balls in chocolate – two coats would be better than one, but one will do. As you finish rolling a ball in chocolate, pop it into the bowl with cocoa powder & roll until completely coated. Handy to have someone to help here (your hands will be coated in chocolate), but not essential. 8. Serve & enjoy!!
