From Family to Family - The Way Family, Ed. 07

Today was a day much like any other in the home of Brazil’s most well-traveled family: chaotic but filled with more than a few special moments! While Destiny was taking a relaxing bath after a hectic day, Gate witnessed the most beautiful scene in the world: Hope standing up and taking her first steps alone in the living room!

When Destiny appeared and saw her husband’s red eyes, she immediately asked what had happened. She melted when she saw how much Hope had grown and thought about how wonderful it was to share this moment with Gate, who was becoming an increasingly doting father. Trip also walked into the room, holding an astronomy book he had found in the bathroom, and said, “Mom, Dad, I want to travel by rocket to get up close to those constellations of Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, and all those starry creatures!” As Gate laughed, Destiny asked Trip to take care of Fly’s esoteric book, saying, “Your sister won’t like it at all if she sees you messing with her things.” Turning to Gate, she confessed that she needed a crystal ball to see the destiny of their next family trip. Gate didn’t quite understand the comment. After all, Vida—the family’s travel agent—always knew the best destination for each phase of a family’s journey.

But this time, Destiny felt that it was more complicated with each daughter and son at such different stages, and she wanted to hear the opinions of other families in the same situation before talking to Vida. She remembered the community of traveling families they were a part of and said, “I think I’m going to join that community of traveling families. Surely, other families can help us and shed some light on this. It’s good to hear real family-to-family experiences!” And after dinner, when everyone was in their beds, Destiny opened her notebook and started chatting in the group. She shared her doubts with other families who also had babies, children, and teenagers and enjoyed the interaction with so many diverse perspectives and experiences from those who had been through similar situations.

To make life easier for the whole family, they suggested a beach destination where Hope could freely experiment and find her footing! South America was the most recommended for interacting with all kinds of biomes and animals that Trip loved: glaciers, deserts, wildlife, and national parks abound on our continent! To embrace Fly’s mystical side, they recommended some fantastic destinations in Asia, rich in culture and spirituality. Destiny’s dream of taking her family to Africa and visiting social projects became closer with the advice from other families. But she still needed to research further to see if there were any age restrictions for Hope. When Gate approached, bringing a glass of wine and confessing how much he missed skiing, she immediately shared the family patriarch’s desire with the group. And now she was signing off from the screens to share with her husband what she had read in the group. Nick appeared, licking their feet, almost as if he was saying they could relax and not worry about bringing the pet.

Gate laughed and commented, “It’s as if Nick knows how complex this decision is. But there’s nothing like taking all these tips to Vida. She will surely guide us in the final decision. After all, having the support of our travel agent who knows our family well and each of these destinations is certainly crucial for the success of our next vacation!” Want to know our family’s next destination? Stay tuned for the next episode of this story.
