Strong Seller's Market
The market has been cooling over time and prices plateaued for a while. Despite the consistent decrease in MAI, we’re in the Seller’s zone. Watch for changes in MAI. If the MAI resumes its climb, prices will likely follow suit. If the MAI drops consistently or falls into the Buyer’s zone, watch for downward pressure on prices.

School Goals
State Goals
Safe & Welcoming Environment
This year, we focused on academic goals related to math, language development, attendance, and family engagement. We had significant improvement in our school-wide attendance, as well as growth with our second language learners. We have seen a marked increase in parent involvement. We continue to have room for growth in all areas and will keep our focus on math, language supports, attendance and family engagement in the year to come.
The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.
We recognize the diversity and worth of all students, individuals and groups, and are committed to both educating and providing a safe and inclusive space for everyone, regardless of their race, color, religion, immigration status, or any other basis. We believe that students learn best when they feel safe and valued. Our staff is skilled, caring, and dedicated to fostering each student’s academic and personal growth in a supportive and welcoming environment.

State Goals
Safe & Welcoming Environment
Our goal at South Meadows is to engage all students in an authentic and relevant manner so they will be successful in their future endeavors. Students should have opportunities during the school day, and through extracurricular activities, to engage in learning that interests them and prepares them for a wide variety of careers and college pursuits. Throughout the school we will use traumainformed approaches, AVID strategies, and dual-language learning so that all students reach academic success.
At South Meadows, we value all students and celebrate their individuality and the diversity of our community. We provide a welcoming space for anyone in our community, regardless of their race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender, immigration status, or any other basis. Time is spent in classes to build community, foster positive relationships, and increase positive interactions. Our staff reaches out to families with regular communication and opportunities to engage in the school.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Our top priority is that students learn in a safe and welcoming environment. To that end, we have a network of adults that provide mentoring and guidance to foster positive relationships among students. We work with students to overcome conflict and build-up our community with a focus on positive interactions. Celebrating students and coaching them through conflictresolution allows us to have a strong culture and climate and, as such, we expect responsible and respectful behavior at all times. To learn more about our district's definition and response to bullying or harassment, please review the code of conduct and student handbook on our website.
South Meadows believes that additional learning opportunities beyond the school day are important to engage students and increase academic and social success. This is why we offer the following afterschool programs and activities: Adelante Chicas, TRiO, Vex Robotics, LEGO Robotics, Aviation Club, ZONE Athletics in partnership with Hillsboro Parks & Rec, Garden Club, Jazz Band, Chess Club, Homework Club, Drama Club, Girls in STEM Careers Club, and more.
We maintain open communication to build our relationship and collaboration with parents through: Monthly Newsletters, Frequent Social Media updates, Family Nights for AVID & STEAM, our Family Outreach Liaison, monthly coffee chats with the principal, partnership with Youth Contact, parent groups, and welcoming parent participation in all of our clubs and activities. Families also receive support with using ParentVUE, a system that provides current information regarding their student's academic progress, in addition to face-to-face conferences with our teaching staff. We encourage all parents to stay in close communication with our staff and administration.
When our school has strong community partnerships, we can leverage those collaborative relationships into higher student achievement. We seek out and welcome groups, organizations, and individuals to build connections for our students and their community. We partner with local business volunteers, our high school, our local elementary schools, AVID tutors, Intel, Head Start Preschool, Sparrow Club, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Youth Contact, Adelante Mujeres, and many individuals who volunteer to offer support. Through these relationships, our students can see the value of being an active member of our strong community.

State Goals
Safe & Welcoming Environment
Hilhi's goals for the 2019-20 school year include: 1) Increase SBAC math scores by 5%; 2) Increase SBAC language arts by 5%; 3) Increase 9th grade on-track to 95%; and 4) Know 100% of students by name, strength and need.
Many upgrades to school safety either have been or are being made at Hilhi, thanks to bond funding. These include interior door locks, strobes for visual warning inside and outside, security cameras, card key access and local door alarms on exterior doors, an alert button at the front desk, glass film at the main door, and improved in-building public safety communication capability.
