About Our School ADVANCED COURSEWORK
CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
PARENT & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Our school offers 10 AP courses to include: Biology, Chemistry, Language and Composition, Literature, US History, European History, Human Geography, Macroeconomics, and Calculus A/B and B/C.
Our students have the opportunity of enrolling in a variety of CTE courses where students can get hands on experiences in high wage, high demand fields, and earn college credits. Sam Barlow has seven programs of study in our CTE department:
We offer 19 OSAA sanctioned athletic programs, 7 OSAA sanctioned activity programs, and 20 student clubs which are all designed to engage students, promote long term success, and provide all students the opportunity to represent their school community in a positive setting.
Our school hosts a variety of events for attendance by families and the community. We also partner with local businesses to create opportunities for students. Please see our school website for specific information about our various activities. Two-way communication and active engagement is key. We have community liaisons that support Spanish and Russian families. In addition, we access telephonic language interpretation and schedule outside interpreters as needed to support families from all other language backgrounds
We also offer 36 dual-enrollment courses through Mount Hood Community College. During the 2017-18 school year, students earned a total of 5,430 college credits.
