School Goals

State Goals

Safe & Welcoming Environment

Our focus includes continued growth in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusive practices. We will also continue focusing on the areas of balanced literacy, instructional innovation and student engagement, interventions, standards-based instruction and assessment literacy. In addition, staff make the commitment to continued learning during our weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLC) time to best support student learning and achievement.

The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.

Our school strives to ensure all students and their parents feel welcome. The district has policies prohibiting discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying as well as procedures to address incidents with fairness and compassion as soon as they occur. Our school’s equity team works with the district’s Director of Equity & Strategic Initiatives in the ongoing, school-wide work of awareness, respect, and inclusion. The district provides access to translation and interpreters for our families who request these services.

Our school gives parents multiple opportunities to learn about curriculum and programs and provide feedback. We have a PTO organization, an equity team, and a site improvement committee, all of which provide opportunities for parents to be involved. Our school sends weekly newsletters to parents and our website is updated regularly. The district provides two weekly newsletters to inform parents and the community about district initiatives, student and faculty awards, and logistical information. The district and school websites can be accessed by families that speak languages other than English. Parents are encouraged to attend the Back to School meeting, PTO events, and parent education meetings designed for them.

Our school works diligently to engage community members through our cultural events, PTO special events, equity team, and site improvement committee. Parents and community members support our school by volunteering in the classroom, volunteering for committees, and providing guidance and support in our equity, diversity, and inclusion work. We encourage our local businesses to be involved in school fundraising and career events.

State Goals

Safe & Welcoming Environment

Our mission is to be a nurturing and safe learning community that embraces the uniqueness of middle school and supports everyone as thoughtful, contributing learners and citizens. Our goals are to: (1) nurture and sustain a positive culture of trust, collaboration, and celebration where everyone feels safe and is valued; and (2) ensure that each and every student learns the essential academic standards for their grade level and participates in meaningful opportunities for enrichment and support.
