Dear Parents and Community Members, The annual report card issued by the Oregon Department of Education is designed to help parents and community members of Amity School District understand how our school is preparing students and the growth our students are making. For 2016-2017, our English Language Arts scores reflect 40% of all students achieved a Level 3 (meet) or Level 4 (exceed). Through whole group, small group guided instruction, and intervention, we will continue working on accuracy, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension in reading. This year, reading and writing instruction will be tied together in an effort to reach even greater achievement for all students with professional development targeted at effective teaching strategies. Parent support is needed to ensure all students are reading every evening at home. Reading with your child or talking about what they are reading promotes reading success. For 2016-2017, our math scores reflect 41% of all students achieved a Level 3 (meet) or a Level 4 (exceed). We will continue to use materials that
address the standards with professional development targeted at effective teaching strategies. Students at all grade levels have access to STEAM Club, an after school program that includes math, science, technology, engineering, and art. Parent support is needed as all students are encouraged to practice math concepts at home through school provided math web sites. We are committed to providing our students a strong foundation for their academic success in an environment that is both supportive and challenging. We welcome your help by consistent communication, involvement in your child’s education, and expecting achievement in all areas of school including academics, behavior, and social growth. We are excited about this school year and partnering with you for the benefit of your child. Thank you, Principal

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Community Members,
grades.
In the 2016-17 school year, Amity Middle School students made growth gains in their education at AMS. By using local growth assessments, we are able to chart each individual students growth over the course of the year. With this last year being the first year of SBAC, we have no prior benchmark to compare the state testing scores with. While the results are good overall, we will keep striving to improve the education students receive at AMS. In particular have strengthened our math programs by adding a second math class for all 6th graders and implemented a stronger and consistent math program across the Elementary and Middle school. We saw great gains with our 6th grade math students over the scores they posted in 5th grade. We will continue to monitor and adjust this, as we get data to corollate the success of this program.
We have added a year long STEM program to our 7th grade curriculum. We continue to reinforce literacy across all content areas, and have added to a strong current technology base. We have reached out to our struggling students by implementing an Academic Support room at every lunch for students that are deficient with their weekly
You can help your student by monitoring their homework, attending parent teacher conferences, viewing the AMS website to stay current with events taking place at school, checking grade sheets that are sent home every Wednesday, with all students. You can review your student's grades and missing assignments at any time by visiting the district website and accessing the parent grade book viewer. We look forward to partnering with you over the coming year to make sure all of our students reach their potential! Thank you, Principal

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Community Members, The annual report card issued by the Oregon Department of Education is designed to help parents and community members of the Amity School District understand how our school is preparing students and the growth our students are making. Amity High School is proud to say that we are accredited once again for 6 more years. The process of accreditation evaluation covers everything from leadership to facilities. In the report back to the school, we were received several areas of praise. The multiple avenues of communication including the website, Facebook, Remind, and emails were mentioned by the team and stakeholders as a strength of Amity High School. The parents and students especially like the small school atmosphere and how approachable the staff is for all students, parents, and community members. Since the last accreditation visit, Amity High School has significantly increased the amount of college level courses through the use of College Credit Now, Willamette Promise, Programs of Study and Advanced Placement courses. The accreditation team also noticed how calm and organized the building ran during the day. We were also complimented on our fiscal responsibility. We received a few directions on how to improve Amity High School. We will take the feedback as an opportunity to revitalize the purpose and mission statement. We will do this by
spending time working with stakeholders to determine a strategic direction for our school. We will develop data teams in order to make group decision about the school and student achievement. Finally, we will train staff to better differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all level of learners in the classroom.
We are committed to providing students a strong foundation for their academic success in an environment that is both supportive and challenging. We welcome the communities' help by consistent communication, involvement in our academic and co-curricular programs, and expecting achievement in all areas of school. We are excited about the new school year and look forward to partnering with you for the benefit of all our students. Thank you, Principal
