State Goals

Safe & Welcoming Environment

At Hillside, we will iNSPIRE, iNNOVATE, and iGNITE student learning. We are committed to continued academic and social growth of every scholar in every classroom. We do this by implementing engaging curricula, interventions and enrichment programs. At Hillside, we incorporate AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies to work towards our goal of all students becoming college and career ready. We provide rigorous instruction, engaging students by making learning joyful.

The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.

Your scholar's safety is very important to us! We have installed a doorbell at the single entrance to our school. Our facility is monitored 24/7 by cameras and fencing surrounds our play area. We practice safety drills monthly. We strive to create a welcoming environment by keeping our campus clean and safe, embedding respect in our school climate and making communication easy. We provide regular communication in home languages, to share information and receive feedback.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

PARENT ENGAGEMENT

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

It is easiest for children to learn when they feel safe and secure. This is the environment we try to provide at HES. Bullying, violent and/or threatening behavior will not be tolerated. Our school has a single point of entrance, a buzz in system and staff that are ALICE trained. Safety is our number one goal.

· Parent- Teacher Organization (PTO)

We invite you to become active participants in our school community through volunteering, joining our PTO, and/or attending and supporting school events.

Volunteers and community partners play an important role in Eagle Point School District 9. Each day in every school, volunteers support and encourage staff and students, and take an active role in helping every student achieve. Through their contributions of time, energy, inspiration and expertise, volunteers often report they receive more than they give.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

At Eagle Point Middle School, we want all of our students to have a safe and secure learning environment. We use the Second Steps curriculum to teach social skills and provide students lessons on ways to create a positive school climate. Additionally, we provide quarterly training for all staff around Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports while calibrating our own educational practices around discipline and behavior.

Our school offers SOMSAC sponsored athletics: Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Wrestling, Basketball, Track. Our staff provides the following after school clubs and activities: Brain Bowl, Scavenger Hunt, Art Club, Gardening Club, Yearbook, Leadership, and National Junior Honor Society.

At EPMS, we believe that: parents play an important part in their child’s learning; by involving parents in our school, students will achieve more academic growth; parents need to be involved in our school’s decision making process; and parents can bring a new perspective and learning to our school team. We encourage all parents to participate and collaborate in regular twoway communication involving academic learning and other school activities. Opportunities: Student-Led Conferences in the fall and spring, AVID Family Nights, sports, and other evening events.

Our school and district have created many community partnerships to develop the whole child. Our partnership with Rogue Community Health provides students and families with local, accessible health care for all. The YMCA provides our families with afterschool child care and team sports to support and promote healthy lifestyles. Life Art inspires our students' artistic ability and provides a positive support system after school through making connections in the community. We have also partnered with Jackson County Sheriff's department, Fire District #3, & Eagle Point Police Department to support our implementation of ALICE procedures. Together we are making our school a great place to be!

White Mountain Middle School continues our commitment to ensure engaging instruction for every student, every classroom, every day. Our Attention 2 Attendance initiative supports our our goal of having students at school, ready to learn everyday. The implementation of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) school wide integrates engaging instruction and organization skills to develop students who are college and career ready.

White Mountain Middle School staff strive to make our school safe and welcoming for everyone. We take precautionary measures to ensure safety. We use a single point of entry and a buzzer which requires approval to enter during school hours. Outside windows have been treated with Solar Guard to add protection and safety. Our staff is trained in using ALICE strategies to handle imminent threats and/or emergency situations. In addition to providing a safe environment, our students and families are presented with many welcoming opportunities to familiarize themselves with our school such as Wolf Academy, Open House and Family Nights.

CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

PARENT & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Eagle Point High School offers numerous opportunities for advanced coursework including an Honors Diploma track and extensive Advanced Placement (A.P.) courses in Math, Science, English and Social Studies. Our Dual-Credit programs include partnerships with Southern Oregon University and several local community colleges.

EPHS continues to offer programs of study in Agriculture, Business and Information Technology, Manufacturing and Culinary Arts. We are working to expand our CTE offerings over the coming year.

Eagle Point provides many opportunities for students to further their educational experience outside the classroom. Our school offers a host of OSAA approved athletics. Our clubs currently include diverse offerings from an equestrian team to theatre to a table tennis club. The EPHS FFA Program is one of the top programs in Oregon. Our SkillsUSA team is expanding to include Engineering and Culinary Arts.

We encourage all parents to participate and collaborate in regular two-way communication involving academic learning and other school activities. We provide opportunities to do this through Student-Led Conferences in the fall and spring, athletic events, club activities, and other evening events. Parents can access their student’s academic performance and attendance online and can communicate with teachers directly through email and text messaging. Commitment to student attendance and safety is evident in our use of an automated phone and texting system for expedited notification to parents. CTE and FFA programs are always seeking new business partnerships. We have an ongoing need for volunteer coaches in our clubs activities and athletic programs.
