Slight Seller's Advantage

The market has been cooling over time and prices have recently flattened. Despite the consistent decrease in Market Action Index (MAI), we’re in a Seller’s Market (where significant demand leaves little inventory available). If the MAI begins to climb, prices will likely follow suit. If the MAI drops consistently or falls into the Buyer’s zone, watch for downward pressure on prices.

RRES is moving into the second year of the PAX Good Behavior Game and a continued focus is on student self-regulation, peaceful classrooms and staff self-care. We have been working diligently on restorative disciplinary practices at the administrative level. Survey data shows that in 2018-19, staff and students feel the school is a much safer place. In the 19-20 School Year, we will use our Student Habit rubrics to communicate with parents and students expected behavior in various school settings.

Safe & Welcoming Environment

The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.

RRES will continue partnering with the Police and Sheriff's Departments while we tailor lockdown and active shooter drills for elementary age children. In the summer of 2019, we abated asbestos, replaced floors, counters and added fresh paint. 1st-4th Grade teachers received new rugs and storage cabinets. During February Kindness Week, our West Campus had a beautification project that drastically improved the West Campus street front with cleaner, simpler landscaping that has improved the aesthetics of our West Campus.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

At RRES, we believe that harassment and bullying are prevented by building a strong community where students build conflict resolution skills and work to repair harm when it happens. We follow district and state policies on bullying and all forms of harassment. However, we believe that social emotional skills like fostering respect, kindness, service and navigating conflict are also an important part of a public education. In 2019-20, we will be trained in community building circles and implement them when teachers feel comfortable as facilitators.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT RRES welcomes and encourages parents to participate in their child’s education. In addition, parents and community members also have the ability to be involved in Parent Advisory Council (K-12) and the Site Council (K-6). Both organizations help our schools to create more opportunities for community partnership and help our schools’ continuously improve. We have multiple family events sponsored by our school and the PTA.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Service is an important part of learning and building a great community. At RRES, we want our students to help each other and our community. We have multiple community partners working with us to help our students. Great Beginnings has developed an amazing partnership in after school programs and The Lions Club does vision screening. We have La Clinica in our schools providing dental screenings and support with Happy Smiles. Options-Grants Pass provides individual mental health services for our students along with outreach support groups. Our Dutch Brothers and Veterans of Foreign Wars post helps us with turkey baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

State Goals

Safe & Welcoming Environment

Our school is focusing on high-level instruction, reducing disruptions by protecting exceptional learning opportunities and allowing students to showcase growth and success. We did this by developing clear attendance interventions, academic support plans, and student led conferences. The results of this work can be found in the growth for regular attendance, graduation rates and the significant gains in reading and mathematics achievement at the high school level. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students.

We have developed a school community that is based on high standards for academics, citizenship and school pride. We have strong attendance rates because our students enjoy coming to school everyday. Our staff is committed to the safety of our students but also strive to make students feel included and welcome. Furthermore, our size allows us to know all of our students individually and to be able to support their academic journey. The relationships we develop by knowing all of our students support the safety and community aspect of our school.

About Our School ADVANCED COURSEWORK

CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

PARENT & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We are proud of our advanced and college level courses our school offers, which include: · Honors English (10th-12th)

We are proud of the CTE offerings at RRJSHS. We have two exceptional CTE programs of study: Agriculture and Business, both of which allow students many opportunities to gain career readiness skills. In addition we have a CTE Coordinator who teaches a Freshman Success course and Junior level Life Beyond Rogue River course. Both these courses are designed to help students see real world applications for their education and to plan a high school education that will help them meet their personal goals, as well as what opportunities will be available to them after high school.

We have a range of growing OSAA Division II teams as well as a Jr. High sports program. Our FFA chapter has the 5th largest membership in Oregon and excels in state level competitions. The Arden Ensemble puts on three performances annually. Our music department is visible in most school events and performs throughout the year. We have an active and growing art club. Our leadership classes are seen serving in most community events. There is after school tutoring provided 4 days per week. We are developing many after school activities for our Jr High students focused on STEAM, Outdoor Exploration, and CTE opportunities.

RRJSHS is known as a tight knit community where students are able to get involved in fun and relevant activities throughout the school year. Many of these extend beyond the school and include parents and the community. We have many music concerts, drama performances, FFA banquets, and more. We also have a parent advisory council that meets monthly, and an annual parent/community input meeting that drives priorities for the school. We also showcase student accomplishments through student led conferences each spring, and all seniors take part in a capstone presentation to staff and community members as a requirement for graduation.
