School Goals

State Goals

Safe & Welcoming Environment

Firwood Elementary thrives on teaching academic, social, and emotional responsibility. We make great efforts to achieve success in each one of these areas. We believe that these three areas of emphasis are interconnected and affect one another. Our number one goal is to help our students grow into well-rounded individuals that will find success here at Firwood and beyond. We ensure this for our students by assessing each child often and responding to their emotional, social, and academic needs.

The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.

Our school environment is a key aspect in helping us accomplish our goal of helping our students find academic, social, and emotional success. We have several areas of emphasis to help us achieve a safe and welcoming environment. We focus on 3 character traits/rules that are the backbone of creating a positive environment. We encourage and promote all our students and staff to Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Respectful. We also have a comprehensive security system in place that helps secure our Firwood families which includes key cards, cameras, remote lock-down capabilities, a single point of entry for all visitors, and secure fencing.
