State Goals
Safe & Welcoming Environment
Danebo strives to promote success by encouraging students to regularly attend school. A school-wide focus on creating a safe, welcoming environment for students and families guides our attendance goal. We work with students and their parents to inform them of the importance of regular attendance. Daily attendance rates are shared with students and school-wide goals are set throughout the year. Danebo has also implemented individual student attendance interventions.
The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.
Danebo staff focuses on building relationships with students and families. Our front office staff have participated in yearly trainings on creating welcoming environments in the school. Teachers know the importance of greetings (beginning and ending of the day) and ensure that they meet students at the entrances each morning and wish them farewell at dismissal. While our front office staff contacts families of students who are absent each day, teachers follow up with families when a student has been absent for more than one day, focusing on the idea that the student is missed in class.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Danebo’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meets monthly and provides families an opportunity to plan school activities for the year. Danebo has an annual Family Literacy Night, providing literacy-based activities where each child leaves with a free book. Our CATCH Team (Coordinating Approaches to Child Health) plans a family night, which includes healthy snacks and activities to get students and families moving. The annual Danebo Celebration is a fun-filled carnivaltype event that brings former students and families to our school. We encourage parents to volunteer in classrooms, at school events, PTO sponsored activities and join on field trips. At our annual Open House, we provide families with information on how to become involved in various school activities.

Safe & Welcoming Environment
At Shasta, our mission is to create a healthy learning community that prepares students to be strong academically, socially, and culturally. Our school strives to promote student success by using high quality classroom instruction based on assessment of student progress. Curriculum is aligned throughout grade levels, emphasizes critical thinking and application, and meets the social and emotional experiences and needs of all students. This helps our students be at or above the state and district averages as indicated by state testing measures.
Everyone deserves to feel they belong at Shasta Middle School. Students start each day with a Homeroom class, which supports students through fun, interactive activities and lessons in a connecting environment to empower students to succeed. Teachers meet with students to help develop social emotional skills and create a positive school community. The Second Step curriculum builds socialemotional learning that helps create a positive learning environment. It includes units on bullying prevention, growth mindset, friendship, and peer conflict.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
To ensure a safe and secure learning environment, we train all staff members in the ALICE safety procedures, which teaches staff how to proactively handle the threat of an intruder or active shooter. Students learn what bullying, harassment, and intimidation means and how everyone can take a stand and make the school a safe place for all. Shasta follows School Board Policies regarding responses to bullying/harassment incidents.
Shasta offers a variety of extracurricular activities to build positive school connections, such as: · Award winning Jazz Band & Session Choir
There are many ways for families to get involved at Shasta, including our Parent Teacher Organization, which meets monthly to discuss events at the school, plan fundraisers, organize service projects, and discuss ways to improve the school. Shasta is committed to serving through our Shasta Shines Service Projects, which take place at multiple times throughout the school year. In addition, families attend evening events such as Open House, Meet & Greet, Shastafest, and band and choir concerts that include a Hult Center performance.
We look to the community and build positive partnerships that support our students. Our Shasta Shines Winter Service Project raises funds for families in our community and Womenspace. Shasta partners with The Child Center, Lane County Behavioral Health, and the Bethel Health Center to provide counseling and therapy services for our students. We are grateful for the work of Project Hope, Operation School Bell, and all organizations who reach out each year to positively impact the lives of students.

Willamette’s mission statement is: To inspire all students academically and prepare them for success as high school graduates and career professionals who will continue their education as life-long learners. To achieve this mission, we emphasize the importance of multi-tiered systems of support, which include specific support around 9th grade on track, attendance and behavior, school climate and culture, and relevant and rigorous instruction. We support all our students by being engaged in our community, both in the classroom and in schoolsponsored activities such as music programs, drama, athletics, AVID, and a variety of clubs.
Willamette is implementing restorative practices and culturallyresponsive teaching to ensure all our students feel safe and welcome. All staff receive ALICE safety training and we practice lockdown drills with our staff and students. Students have many avenues to report concerns about safety, bullying and harassment. We advertise the SafeOregon Tip Line as an anonymous reporting system. We provide annual community trainings around the topics of teen cybersafety, teen suicide prevention, encouraging healthy relationships, and we have a drug and alcohol counselor on-site.
