State Goals

Safe & Welcoming Environment

At Dilley, we focus on having high standards for all students while developing strong character. We work diligently to create an environment where all students feel they can reach their full potential and take ownership of their learning. Our staff also realizes the importance of building strong relationships with all students in order to create an identity safe school environment.

The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.

Our district follows the I Love You Guys curriculum that is taught every year. This curriculum contains common language and procedures for all schools to follow. At Dilley, we focus on making everyone who comes in our school feel welcomed and appreciated. Our school goal is to have each child get 5 positive interactions before they start their day and 5 positive interactions at the end of their day.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

PARENT ENGAGEMENT

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Forest Grove School District recognizes the need to ensure the safety of all of our students. In an effort to ensure safety for all, the following practices are in place in all of our Pk-6 buildings: a) PBIS b) PAX c) Trauma Informed Practices d) restorative practices and discipline. As a district we also have counseling lessons to address bullying and reporting as well as safe touch and personal space.

Clubs such as Girl Scouts, Mad Science, or Young Rembrandts

Dilley takes parent engagement to the next level. We have a strong Parent and Teacher Organization that meets monthly. Our PTO has a full board and helps engage other parents to volunteer and/or help with special projects. We also have a Building Site Council that meets monthly and is open to our parents. Teachers strive to have multiple ways of communicating with parents and figuring out ways they can support our school. We also have Fall Parent Conferences as well as Spring Parent conferences. Aside from classroom engagement, our school has a garden that is fully funded and maintained by community members and parents. Our school garden is our school's greatest gem.

Dilley organizes yearly events opened to all community members filled with family fun. The goal for our community events is to bring people into our school and be a part of our school community. Some of the community events hosted are: a) Back to school BBQ; b) Fall Carnival; c) Veterans assembly; d) Talent Show; e) Community Service Projects; and other monthly events requiring volunteers.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT

We believe in partnering with the parents of our students to ensure that our students learn at high levels. Towards this end, we use parent surveys and feedback from our school climate surveys as an important way of determining how successful our practices are.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT We partner with local organizations to bring learning to the outside world. Each year our students take field trips to learn about the world outside our school and to inform students about what kind of activities are in their community, and we work to find meaningful activities to allow students to give back to their community.

Safe & Welcoming Environment

Neil Armstrong MS is strongly committed to providing each student with a world class education focused on enhancing literacy skills, second language acquisition, a strong foundation of mathematics and sciences, and the implementation of cutting edge technology. We focus on educating the whole child, and embracing a growth mindset philosophy. We expect each initiative, and high leverage practice to be examined through the equity lens. We are also an AVID school committed to developing college and career pathways.

Neil Armstrong MS is an inclusive community in which diversity is valued. We are committed to ensuring that all students and families feel safe, welcome, and an integral member of our school. We have a very committed PTO that works in partnership with other stakeholders in the community. We encourage positive behaviors that are reinforced through both our advisory, and support programs. We implement a dress code that is student friendly, but also ensures respect, and consideration for a true learning environment.
