CAESAR – AUTONOMOUS PLANTATION ROBOT Plantation work is one of the most demanding in agriculture: narrow rows and turning circles combined with steep hills call for powerfull engines on the one hand and the most compact machines on the other. The autonomous plantation robot offers a glimpse into the future of plantation work. Its flexibility in movement as well as its modularity offer great benefits for plantation farmers.

BREATH FIT – MOBILE OXYGEN MONITOR Oxygen monitoring is a means of evaluating the fitness of the patients heart and lung system. For athletes, it is mainly used to track and evaluate the training progress. The setup of current monitoring systems causes problems for a lot of users. Due to a new measuring technique developed by the Institute of Aerospace and Engineering at the TUD, the package size can be decreased immensely and a new setup is possible. A modern wearable for amateur and professional athletes can be envisioned.

AUDI SMART DRIVING GLOVES The dystopia of the mega city is dark and threatening. In 2015, the TUD was invited to take part in the “Audi Design UNIverse“ and come up with ways for Audi vehicles to enhance the passenger‘s experience in such an environment, with special consideration of the challenges of autonomous cars. I wanted to make the feel of driving a highly automated or even self driving cars more intimate. In handson-wheel mode, the smart driving glove gives direct optical feedback and thus enhances the driving experience. In the passive autonomous mode, it serves as an interface for an augmented reality system.

ROLLWERK 2013 Year after year, a team of design students takes part in a traditional soap-box derby in Dresden. The goal is not only to come up with a great design and then build it from scratch, but also hunt for sponsors. The lightweight carbon fibre themed vehicle of our team was a highlight.

STUDENT DESIGN STUDIO »August« We founded „August“ in 2013 from students for students. After having studied several years, we wanted to help newer students with workshops and learning possbilities by working on design projects from the industry. Learning to meet deadlines, communicate with clients and organzing events – everything I learnt during my time as freelancer for August was highly valuable.

OFFSHORE BLADE SERVICE – DIPLOMA THESIS The harsh offshore weather conditions take their toll on the rotorblades of offshore wind turbines. They break much faster compared to onshore turbines. Today there is no convenient service system available on the market. Service technicians still have to risk their lifes every time they climb up the blade. Aqua offers a safe and flexible alternative, the first closed blade service platform that can be transfered by helicopter transport.
