Everyone gets blackheads although some people are more prone to frequent or serious clogging of their pores. For most people removing blackheads can be challenging with most people resorting to squeezing, scratching, and poking at their skin only to cause further damage. Improper blackhead removal can actually damage the skin because squeezing the blackhead can cause the blackhead to move down further into the pore where it can become a pimple. Improper blackhead removal can also cause redness, inflammation, and even unsightly scarring. Although improper removal can cause problems, it is possible to remove most blackheads although some will prove too stubborn and will not be able to be removed. Always use a proper blackhead removal method because it will limit the amount of potential damage to your skin. Never force a blackhead that is not easily removed, it will come out eventually and your skin will not suffer long term damage form overzealous removal attempts. There are many cleansers that claim to remove blackheads. The truth is that cleansers are much more useful in preventing blackheads by washing away oil, dirt, and dead skin cells that cause black heads before they start. Using a gentle exfoliating cleanser will keep the dead skin cells, dirt, and oil off your skin and out of your pores. Some cleansers will help to wash away blackheads if the pore is open enough and the blackhead is close to the surface, but no cleanser will remove the most stubborn of blackheads. Squeezing is perhaps the most popular black removal method, and while it can be effective like cleansers it will not always work and it has the potential for harm as well. Squeezing too hard or before your pores are open can damage your skin. Use steam to open your pores before squeezing or use a warm compress of water applied to your skin before using very gentle pressure to squeeze. This method will remove most black heads, but will not remove them all. One of the newest blackhead removal methods are blackhead strips which are adhesive strips that are placed over the nose, moistened, and pulled off after they dry. Blackhead strips will remove blackheads that close to the surface but they will not remove them all. These strips can also cause irritation and their directions should be closely followed. Blackhead guns are the most technologically advanced way to remove blackheads, and like the other methods they will remove some blackheads but are not as effective as squeezing or even blackhead strips. Blackhead guns use suction to suck out blackheads from the pores. Caution must be used with these devices as prolonged suction on one area can damage the skin, cause bruises, or scarring.
