www.fanshawec.ca/electrical One, Two or Three Years . . . IT’s Your Choice We offer everything from a one-year, entry level program in Electrical Techniques to three-year technology programs in Electronics or Electrical Engineering. Some programs offer general studies in the first year with specialization in years two and three. Graduates of our three-year programs have the option of transferring credits towards a degree.

Get Ready to Work Many of our electrical and electronics programs have a co-op component, but all of them include time in our state-of-the-art labs where students work with professionals to build, test and troubleshoot to solve real world problems so that when you graduate, you’re ready to work.

Apprenticeship Training We offer the in-school component for electrical and electronic skilled trades programs: Electrician-Construction Maintenance and Industrial Electrician. While on the job, you will be supervised by a qualified tradesperson. In class, you will study theory and learn to apply your skills to practical assignments.

Electrifying Careers in

Electrical and Electronics Electrical PROGRAMs

Electronics PROGRAM

Electrical Engineering Technician (Accelerated)

Electronics Engineering Technology (Accelerated)

– a two-year Ontario College Diploma program that may be completed in 1.5 years of in-class academic study. Students gain a thorough understanding of DC, AC and digital circuit theory and the techniques of electrical circuit construction and testing, with hands-on wiring of electrical systems for commercial and industrial facilities. This program also covers computer aided design (CAD) for electrical drafting and how electrical motors, generators, and power distribution systems work. Students will gain experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and microcontrollers, building and troubleshooting systems used in industry. Graduates have careers with electrical equipment manufacturers, working on equipment used in general manufacturing operations, with the power generation and distribution sector, or work towards an electrical apprenticeship.

– a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma co-op program that features one 12-month paid co-op placement. Students will be involved with project development, design, and management in the areas of telecommunication systems including wireless/optical systems, digital and analog processing, computer/digital interfacing and microprocessor systems, power electronics and electric machines. Graduates of this program are employed in the high tech areas or manufacturing sector involved with evaluation/design/testing, telecommunications, research/ development, technical sales, maintenance, renewable energy sector or supervision.

Electrical Engineering Technology (Accelerated) – a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma co-op program that features one 12-month paid co-op placement. Students will be heavily involved with project development, design, and management in the areas of electrical systems, machines, electrical distribution and energy management, automation including controls and PLC’s. Graduates of this program should find employment in the manufacturing sector involved with electrical systems, control applications, energy management, renewable energy sector, automation, product evaluation/design/testing, technical sales, maintenance or supervision.

Electrical Techniques – a one-year Ontario College Certificate program where math requirements are not onerous and there’s lots of hands-on learning. Graduates work as alarm technicians, continue to study to become Telecommunication Cabling Specialists, or apply for apprenticeships as industrial or construction/maintenance electricians.
