Oxford county CAMPUS Woodstock and Tillsonburg Centre Fanshawe College, Oxford County offers a range of college services at its two campuses: the Woodstock Campus and the Tillsonburg Centre. Services include certificate and diploma programs, academic upgrading, apprenticeship opportunities, continuing education and customized corporate training for business and industry. Also offered are career and employment preparation and counseling services. The Woodstock Campus is situated on 50 acres of beautifully landscaped property, conveniently located at the forks of Highways 401 and 403. The campus is part of the Woodstock District Community Complex which also houses the Goff Community Hall, a gymnastics centre, two arenas, a figure skating club, day care and food services. Adjacent to the College is the site of the new Woodstock General Hospital. The Tillsonburg Centre is located at the Livingston Centre, a multi-use facility that offers “one-stop shopping” for employment, career and life-skills services. This thriving and progressive community of 16,000 is located 15 minutes south of Highway 401 on Highway 19. Close to the recreational area of Ontario’s South Coast, Tillsonburg is home to a number of national and international companies and offers a delightful mix of downtown heritage buildings and storefronts as well as a modern mall, big box centre and a large community centre complex/water park.

Post Secondary Programs Business Foundations – a one-year Ontario College Certificate program (offered in Woodstock) designed to build fundamental business skills. With small classes, this program is ideal for students who need to strengthen math or other foundational skills before entering a two-year business diploma program, mature students who are preparing to re-enter the workforce, and international students who would benefit from a customized curriculum. Students will take courses in customer service and business communication, while improving computer and math skills. As the second semester of Business Foundations is identical to the common first semester shared by all two-year diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business, graduates may choose to transfer directly into Level Two of any diploma program or enter the workforce in the retail or service sectors.
Child and Youth Worker – is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program (offered in London and Woodstock). Not all youth make it through childhood and adolescence with success. As a child and youth worker, you can make a difference by providing care and treatment for troubled children, adolescents and their families. Courses include: child growth and development, child welfare legislation, case management, family issues, as well as art and play therapy. Graduates work in group homes, correctional services, residential treatment centres, children’s aid societies, boards of education, and hospitals. This program is offered full-time, with some part-time seats available, as well as support for part-time studies in Continuing Education.
Computer Applications and Business Documentation (Accelerated) – this one-year Ontario College Certificate multiple-intake program (offered in Woodstock) is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to become a certified Microsoft Office User Specialist. Also included are components pertaining to hardware, operating systems, networks, emerging technologies, digital media and more. In the Business Documentation course, students will have the opportunity to choose between three streams: General Office, Medical or Logistics. Graduates will be able to start a career as an accounting clerk, customer service representative, administrative assistant, as an assistant in an IT department – the possibilities are endless.
Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician – a two-year Ontario College Diploma program (offered in Woodstock). Students develop skills in welding, sheet metal, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and air conditioning trades. Skills will be developed to prepare for a career designing, testing, manufacturing, installing and servicing mechanical heating and cooling equipment. This program is recommended for those interested in an apprenticeship with a mechanical contractor or a position in the sales and service sector providing technical support. Graduates are eligible to write the Gas Technician III and Gas Technician II certification exams.
Personal Support Worker – this one-year Ontario College Certificate program is completed in 30-weeks and is offered in London, Simcoe, St. Thomas and Tillsonburg. As a personal support worker, you will observe and respond to the needs of clients in long-term care facilities, retirement homes, in home-care and hospital settings. You will assist people with the tasks of daily living, help make them comfortable and keep them safe. This program is also available on a part-time basis in London and may be in other locations, depending on demand.
Police Foundations (Accelerated) – an accelerated Ontario College Diploma program (offered in Woodstock). If you’re interested in public law enforcement or in a career as a police officer, this program offers excellent pre-employment training. You’ll study the theory of human relations, combined with law enforcement, police powers, community policing and investigation. The program will prepare you to compete within the Ontario Constable Selection System for employment in public law enforcement and related careers.
Practical Nursing – a two-year Ontario College Diploma program leading to a career as a Practical Nurse. The humanistic, caring curriculum provides you with the knowledge and theoretical foundations needed to provide care to clients of all ages. Nursing skills will be learned and practiced in our simulated nursing laboratory, then followed by a wide variety of supervised clinical placements. Graduates will work as independent health care providers in various settings from community, hospitals, and long-term care facilities to physician’s offices, schools and mental health programs. Offered in London and Woodstock.
Hair Stylist –a 48-week Ontario College Diploma program (offered in Woodstock). Learn all the skills you need to become a professional hair stylist in less than one year. You will complete all of the classroom hours necessary to obtain your trade certificate. Graduates are ready to work in a hair salon or spa or, once your apprenticeship practical hours are complete, even start your own business! This program has a September and January intake.

Welding Techniques – a one-year Ontario College Certificate program. Two semesters on campus and a mandatory work placement provides the theoretical and practical training to perform most basic welding techniques. Students will be exposed to topics including health and safety, blueprint reading and sketching, applied math, communication, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, introduction to computers, and all position pipe welding. At the completion of the program, students will be eligible to test for welding tickets based on their level of expertise. Career opportunities include: Welder, Welder Fitter Trainee, Apprentice Welder, Apprentice Boilermaker, Apprentice Construction Millwright, Apprentice Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Apprentice Ironworker, Apprentice Pipefitter.
Apprenticeship Programs Apprenticeship programs require an employer/sponsor. The employer must register the apprentice with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities at 217 York St., Suite 201, London, Ontario, N6A 5P9, 519-675-7788. A typical apprentice might require 600 to 700 hours of classroom time (an eight or ten week block of time each year for three years). This format is called ‘block release’.
Hairstylist
Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (block release and part-time evenings) - this program is well-suited for students who enjoy a hands-on approach to learning about the air conditioning industry. Residential and air conditioning system mechanics plan, prepare, and lay out the system, as well as install, start, and verify its operation and function. You will work on installation and connection of pipe for the purpose of conveying all types of cooling refrigerant. As well, you will maintain, service, test, repair, and replace system components and accessories, including the electrical and electronic components.
(Woodstock Campus - part-time evenings) – the Hairstylist program is designed to give the students the skills necessary to become professional hair stylists. Graduates of the program will have completed all of the classroom hours necessary for their trade certificate. Graduates can expect to gain employment in hair salons, spas and/or start their own business on completion of their apprenticeship practical hours.

Continuing Education Fanshawe College, Oxford County offers part-time certificate programs and credits toward professional designations. There are a wide range of courses that can be completed through classroom learning and/or online.
Accounting/Bookkeeping Certificate – this Ontario College Certificate program is designed to prepare students for positions in service or manufacturing organizations. Learn to maintain general and sub-ledgers, prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements, and use financial and management accounting information and software for decision making.
Computerized Office Essentials – this Ontario College Certificate program is designed to teach you the most current computer applications found in most offices today (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Simply Accounting and Desktop Publishing). Graduates are prepared for positions as receptionists, clerks, secretaries and support staff personnel. This program is offered during the day or evening.
Food Service Worker – this Ontario College Certificate program is designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to perform effectively in institutional food preparation settings in commercial or long term care facilities. Emphasis is given during the academic portion of the program to food preparation, service, nutrition and sanitary practices in the workplace. This program meets the requirements set by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
Fundamentals of Addictions – this Ontario College Certificate program provides a specific focus on the knowledge, skills and techniques that are fundamental in the addictions field. It is intended for those individuals wishing to further advance knowledge of current developments in the field. Delivery is well suited to individuals currently employed or entering employment in an addictions related work environment.
Gas Technician - II and III – are offered in a fast-track mode at the Woodstock Campus. The course of study meets the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) requirements for certification. Once you have completed all the courses in the program you can apply to TSSA for certification.

Health Care Office Assistant – this Ontario College Certificate program is designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to function as a clerk/assistant/receptionist in a variety of healthcare facilities including hospital units, doctor’s offices and clinics. This program is offered during the day or evening.
Human Resources Management – this Ontario College Certificate program prepares graduates for a variety of careers managing people and organizations. The program satisfies the core components of Human Resources Management, including; labour relations, economics, organizational behaviour, compensation and benefits, occupational health and general management. Courses are recognized as credit toward the Certified Human Resources Professional designation offered by the Human Resource Professional Association of Ontario.
Manufacturing Leadership – the Manufacturing Leadership Certificate program (MLCP) has been developed through a training partnership of Ontario Community Colleges and the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME). Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Program – offers English and mathematics upgrading, basic computer skills, teamwork, communications and other skills needed for further education and in the workplace. The LBS program is free to qualified adults aged 19 and older. This program is available during the day and evening.
